Story: Nothing but a Fling: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance
“Wait!” Megan pleaded. Vanessa turned to look at her. “Why are you doing this? I thought we were spending the night together!”
Vanessa threw up her arms.
“We should never have started spending nights together, Megan!” she exclaimed. And did Megan hear Vanessa’s voice crack? “It was stupid to start that! We should have kept what we did limited to fucking, each of us going home to our own bed no matter what the hell time it was.”
Megan crossed her arms as she stared at Vanessa.
“Well, I certainly don’t feel like fucking now,” she said.
But I do want to talk!
“Fine,” Vanessa began. “In that case, there’s definitely no reason for me to be here. Even God took a day off if you believe that crap.”
Megan felt herself start to tremble.
“Fine, go!”
“What do you think I’m doing?” Vanessa retorted, her eyes blazing.
Megan felt her blood boil.
“Just so you know,” Megan began, “I’m going to be pretty busy the next two weeks so I don’t know how much time I’ll have for our little fling.”
Vanessa shrugged.
“Okay,” she said. “I’ll just sit at home waiting for you to stop being important and call me.”
Megan’s mouth dropped open.
“If I call you,” Megan stated.
Vanessa gave a dry laugh.
“Okay, fine. If you call me. Whatever.”
Vanessa turned and put her hand on the doorknob but froze.
Megan’s hopes went back up.
Please change your mind. Please change your mind.
But, instead, Vanessa said, “If I don’t see you before you leave, good luck in New York.”
Megan’s heart fell.
Vanessa opened the door, walked through and closed it behind her.
Megan stood where she was and started crying.
Chapter 41
Stupid, stupid, stupid!
How did she let this happen to herself? Had she really been that lonely? Had she really been that hard-up for great sex? Enough to allow herself to fucking fall in love with a woman she knew right from the start that she couldn’t have?
These thoughts and more were running through Vanessa’s head as she angrily paced back and forth in her bedroom after arriving home from Megan’s.
Megan’s statement to her, If I call you was still bouncing around Vanessa’s skull, causing her to hold her hands to the sides of her head in an attempt to somehow squeeze it out of her memory.
