Story: Nothing but a Fling: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance
“I thought about that just the other day,” she said, still softly. “If she was moving up to San Francisco, maybe. But New York? It may as well be the moon.”
“Fuck. I guess you’re right.”
“Yeah. Fuck. Anyway, change of topic: why would Amy noticing be awesome for us?”
“Because she’d definitely write about it in her blog!”
“Wait, Amy has a blog?”
“Yeah! A really good one. It’s called Lesbeing and it’s about being a lesbian in general but being a lesbian in Southern California in particular. She’s got a ton of subscribers.”
Vanessa was amazed. She should have had this conversation with Chloë weeks, if not months, ago. Chloë’s ideas were good and Vanessa was wondering why she herself couldn’t have come up with any of them but then decided it was because she was probably too close to the problem.
“Chloë, your ideas are great, I mean it. Thank you. Let’s start implementing them ASAP.”
Vanessa looked over to see a small and shy smile turn up the corners of Chloë’s mouth.
“By the way,” Vanessa said after about a mile, “I suggested that Megan display some of her art in the shop.”
Chloë sat up straighter and turned to Vanessa.
“That’s fucking perfect!” she practically screamed with excitement. “I mean, I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but Megan is a lesbian artist! If we hang her art and then hashtag the shit out of it on Twitter and Instagram…boom! Hashtag lesbianartist! Hashtag lesbianart! Hashtag queerarts! Whatever! Suddenly, La Vida Mocha is the place to come for coffee and to see art created by a lesbian artist. And, trust me, Amy will be all over it! She already mentions the shop in her blog anyway.”
“She does? Like, what does she write?”
Chloë shrugged.
“Oh, you know…Stuff like, ‘Sitting here at my favorite coffee spot, La Vida Mocha’; ‘I really love the coffee and the vibe at La Vida Mocha’; ‘I can’t wait to marry Vanessa from La Vida Mocha.’”
“Chloë! I swear to God tonight is your last night on Earth!”

“Fuck, I missed you!” Megan said, throwing herself into Vanessa’s arms as soon as Vanessa walked into their bedroom at the beach house. Vanessa had no time to tell Megan that she had missed her too because Megan had claimed Vanessa’s lips in a passionate kiss.
When Megan finally let her go, Vanessa asked, “What are you doing up here? Everybody is downstairs chilling on the deck.”
“I was down there until ten minutes ago when I realized you should be arriving soon and I wanted to be up here when you did.”
Vanessa encircled her arms around Megan’s waist.
“I like that,” she said.
“I bet my poor Vanessa worked really hard today, didn’t she?” Megan said.
“She did,” Vanessa replied. “And you didn’t make it any easier with those pictures you sent.”
Megan wiggled her eyebrows.
“Wait until you see what I have planned for tomorrow,” she teased.
“Well, tomorrow can wait. In the meantime…” Vanessa lifted Megan up, causing Megan to yelp in surprise and then yelp even louder when Vanessa lowered her on the bed, falling on top of her. “In the meantime, I’ve been wanting to do one thing and one thing only since you sent that last picture.”
Megan’s breath was ragged.
“And what is that?” she asked.
Instead of answering, Vanessa set to work unfastening the denim cut-off shorts Megan was wearing and then yanking them off along with Megan’s panties. In anticipation, Megan spread her legs, but Vanessa shook her head and said, “Uh-uh” before using her hands to position Megan onto her side.
