Story: No More Wasted Time: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance
Krissy’s breath hitched at the same time tears began falling from her eyes. She felt stupid. She had always been such a quick crier. Becca used her thumb to wipe one of her tears away.
Sniffling, Krissy tried to get a hold of herself. It didn’t help seeing that Becca’s eyes were now glistening with as-yet unfallen tears.
“Wait,” she said, “what’s this have to do with the Redheaded Vanessa?”
“Also known as Ariel,” Becca stated.
“Also known as Whatever,” Krissy retorted.
“Ariel was going to be my backup plan if Fiona didn’t work out,” Becca told her.
Krissy looked at her askance.
“The Redheaded Vanessa was going to be your backup plan?” she asked, surprised. “Jesus, what the hell does Fiona look like? Maybe I want to make you my backup plan now.”
Becca roared with laughter.
“Oh my god, you are so stupid!” she exclaimed.
“Remember when you were dating Collette?” Krissy asked softly when the laughter died down.
Becca nodded.
“Sure,” she said.
Krissy sniffled again.
“Well, I was devastated,” she said. “You two seemed like you were going to last. I couldn’t let that happen. I was even thinking of ways to sabotage the relationship.”
Becca laughed.
“Really? And what did you come up with?”
“Well, my favorite was to somehow prove that she was the head of a major drug cartel,” Krissy replied.
“Oh my god. She’s the head of security at the Carlsbad mall,” Becca said.
Krissy waved that off.
“Trust me, I had this whole elaborate scheme worked out proving that the security gig was just a front and that she was only using it to somehow bring drugs into this country.”
Laughing, Becca kissed her.
“You are so crazy,” she said.
“Well, that may be, but at least I got the girl I wanted.”
“Mm-hmm,” Becca hummed. “You did indeed. The question is, Ms. Kincaid…What are you going to do with her now that you have her?”
Krissy narrowed her eyes.
“Is it wrong that my mind went straight to sex when you asked me that question?”
Becca put a pondering look on her face.
“Hmm, I don’t think so,” she said. “Would you like to know why?”
Krissy nodded.
