Letting us land there to begin with was illegal. There wasn’t any fucking Customs at this airport to stamp our damnpassports. We already owed the manager of the airstrip a pretty penny.
By the time we got back to the strip my leg was on fire, so when the guy who let us land here walked up, I grabbed the duffel of money Smoke had claimed and handed it over. “For your trouble.”
“Hey,” Smoke said, mouth hanging open. “That one was mine.”
“Shut it,” Hush muttered.
The guy opened the duffel, grinned, then gave us a halfhearted salute. “Anytime. You just let me know when you wanna come back.”
“Where do you find these guys?” I asked Warrant, as the others loaded the guns and money from the SUVs to the plane.
“Oh, you know, here and there,” Warrant said with a shrug. “Cypher’s got contacts everywhere.” Warrant shot me a grin. “Means the rest of us have them everywhere, too. Pretty damn handy most of the time.”
Chuckling, I nodded, then eyed the stairs going up to the jet. Fuck me. It took some time, but I managed to get up them and then flop into the nearest seat.
My eyes opened as Pyre sat across from me. “You ready for some relief?”
“Fuck yes,” I muttered. Closing my eyes again, I clenched my teeth as he tourniqueted my opposite arm and let the needle bite deep. As soon as the darkness behind my closed eyes started to sway, I snapped them open and glared at him. “This is like…non-drowsy and shit. Right?”
He gave me an apologetic look. “Sure thing, Boss.”
“Fucking untrustworthy-” The rest of my words were slurred so badlyIdidn’t even know what I was trying to say.
CHAPTER 32
Keely
It’d been five days since the guys had gone to Canada. I knew they were in the process of planning out more strikes against the LoS, but I was pretty sure they were waiting until Lock was feeling better. He was too stubborn to stay home, and they didn’t want him to seriously injure himself.
Plus, they were waiting for the next idea. Isla was keeping us all up to date on what Switch was finding. She’d put a message out on the dark web not to touch Hangman and the LoS unless they wanted to lose a fucking hand. Or their life.
So far, it was working. The grim satisfaction on Lock’s face, at the news of Hangman finding out about his suppliers getting hit, was something to see. He was made for this. For strategizing and leading his team. I just wished he wasn’t hurt. Though he was already starting to move around easier. ‘Cause it wasn’t like he was resting like Pyre suggested.
A knock on the front door of the clubhouse made me frown. When I opened it, I looked down at the women standing there. She had a bag slung over her shoulder and was carrying a portable massage table. She was probably early forties and narrowed her eyes on me. “You take me to Mr. Lockout.”
Her accent was thick, but I understood her no problem. “Uh…”
“You take,” she insisted, pushing past me when I took too long to respond.
“Hey,” I called out. “Wait a minute.”
“Esperanza,” Lock called out, smiling at her.
The woman’s eyes narrowed on him. “You look like shit. Come. Come.”
My mouth dropped open when Lock just shrugged and followed her back toward the gym. ‘What the hell?’ I mouthed at him.
“Later, Baby Girl,” he said. Then he turned and followed her. “Don’t let anyone back in the gym until we’re done,” he muttered as he passed by Hush.
“You got it, Prez.”
My jaw dropped. That was clearly an order for me to leave them alone. Planting my hands on my hips, I scowled at his back. “Who wasthat?”
“Just a friend,” he said with a shake of his head.
I glared at him. “What kind of friend?”
“A masseuse, Keely,” he said with a chuckle.
