She did not want to spend her entire time at the cabin in bed.

Immy loved the cabin. It wasn’t as small as it sounded with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. But it was secluded and private and had a cozy feel to it. There was also a wrap-around porch with rocking chairs and inside was a big double-story high stone fireplace.

“You’re hungry?” Jenner turned to look at her. “We could stop and get you some fruit or a sandwich.”

“Fruit and sandwiches are not road trip snacks!” Surely she’d taught him better than that. “We need sugar and carbs. Potato chips and candy and chocolate. Really, Jenner. You know the rules about road trips.”

“The rules?” Tobias asked. He was sitting in the front passenger seat while Jenner drove.

“Yep. The rules are that all road trips must include approved snacks. And you don’t have to eat fruit and vegetables.”

“That’s when you’re well,” Jenner told her. “Not when you just got out of the hospital.”

“What does just being out of the hospital have to do with road trip snacks?” she asked.

“Your body is recovering from trauma,” Jenner told her. “It needs good food and rest to recover, not junk.”

“You really know how to take the fun out of a road trip, Daddy,” she told him. “Um, I mean, I, uh?—”

“I like being called Daddy,” Jenner told her. “You can call me that whenever you like.”

“But we’re not even playing right now.” She didn’t know why it had slipped out.

“Doesn’t matter if we are,” Tobias told her. “You can slip into Little headspace whenever you like.”

“But what if it happens when others are around? What if my Little completely takes over and I’m Little all the time?”

“You think that would be a bad thing?” Tobias asked.

“I can’t be a Little all the time! I have a job and responsibilities and not everyone will understand me calling you guys Papa and Daddy.”

Tobias turned and touched her leg. “Immy.”

As always, him simply saying her name pulled her back into the here and now. “Yep?”

“Everything will be all right. You’ll find your rhythm and so will we. We’re here for you. We’re not going to let you fall.”

“Right.”

“We’ll work out our new normal,” Jenner added as he pulled into a gas station. “Which includes one snack for the road trip.”

Several hours later,they reached their cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Jenner opened the door so Tobias could carry her inside.

“Fuck. Look at that view,” Tobias said.

It was early spring and still cold but the view was amazing.

“That’s a dollar,” she told him. “But yeah, the view is amazing. Can you take me out to the front porch? I want to sit in a rocker and watch the sunset. Then I’ll make dinner.”

“It’s too cold for you out there,” Jenner told her as he brought in a load of luggage. “And you’re going to bed.”

“You’re definitely not making dinner,” Tobias added as he followed Jenner to the main bedroom and set her on the bed.

“I had Nadine come in and make all the beds and stock the fridge,” Jenner said.
