Story: Devious Madness
“Be careful with her when you get there.” Kaz grins. “She doesn’t hold the liquor so good sometimes.”
Rurik stops. Turns and settles a glare on my younger brother that I haven’t seen since Rurik caught Kaz cheating at poker years ago.
“You remember her?” Rurik nearly roars the accusation.
“Of course I do.” Kaz laughs. “Who doesn’t remember a woman who throws up all over your shoes?”
Rurik’s nostrils flare and his fists pump at his sides.
“Don’t tell her, though.” Kaz checks his phone again. “Fuck. Elana hasn’t taken the news at being cut off nicely. We need to get there.”
Steam practically billows from Rurik’s ears as we reach the door, and I pull it open.
Dmitri, the head of my security team stands on the other side of the door looking as though he was just about to open it himself.
“What’s wrong?” I demand.
Dmitri only comes up to my office for two things. A drink at the end of a shift or to bring me down to the club when trouble is brewing.
We’re already steps away from my office before Dmitri speaks.
“There’s trouble in the private gaming suite. You’re needed.” He continues to relay the situation of a fight breaking out as we jog down the spiral steps to Obsidian below.
We’re at the suite before he finishes the explanation, but when he throws the door open none is needed.
Blood covers her. It’s in a pool on the floor at her feet, still dripping from the lifeless body crumbled on the floor in front of her.
Ice runs through my veins as I take in the scene.
“Vivienne.” My voice shakes.
“Not a fucking step, Volkov,” Frank Santucci demands.
Molten anger rages through me, melting away the ice.
Vivienne’s fear filled eyes meet mine. “Ivan. I’m so sorry.”
Vicious Sinners continues with Book Three, Devious Truth.
