Story: Dark Awakening
"Was that the mating bond?" she asks softly, teeth grazing her swollen lower lip.
I tenderly kiss down her damp neck and collarbone, lightly dragging my tongue over her heated skin as goosebumps form in my wake. "Yes, and I think that was also you tapping into the full depth of your power for the first time."
She stares up at me, uncertainty flickering in her luminous eyes. "What do you mean?"
I take a steadying breath, knowing this will be a long night of explaining overwhelming truths to my precious mate. But the time for revelation has come. She deserves to understand it all now.
I smooth her hair gently, pulse quickening as I prepare to guide her into the light of destiny. "There are ancient secrets about your origins that you must know, Angel. About what we've awakened together and what the future holds for us..."
Just then, Emily rockets out of the bedroom and then skids to an abrupt halt. We both whip our heads toward her wide-eyed expression, a strange mix of shock and embarrassment.
Oh, what a divinely awkward scene Emily stumbled upon. Here we are, buck-naked with Dani straddling me as if I were her throne with my cock still buried within her.
She quickly flings up one hand to cover her eyes, babbling an apologetic stream of excuses. “Oh god..oh my…I’m so sorry! I thought it was an earthquake, but I see—yikes!” she sputters in disbelief. “I’ll just go right back to bed.”
She flails her free arm around while keeping her eyes covered as she stumbles down the hall.
To my amazement, Dani begins bellowing in laughter. She tips her head back and transforms into a veritable fountain of joy before my eyes. It's an incredible sight! Her spirited display soon has me chuckling at her.
She calms herself and then gazes at me once more. “Agent Stalker,” she says, her voice flat, “you have quite a bit to explain.”
I arch an eyebrow in surprise. “Fancy that! I have my own nickname now. Can’t say I’m all too jazzed about it.”
She laughs softly, “That’s the best I can do for now.”
I lean close, breathing in her scent, “I’m sure you’ll think of something even better. We have all eternity to plan it out.”
After showering, Danica and I sit together on the sofa. I take a deep breath and explain everything that happened while I was away—my urgent quest for knowledge about her emerging talents and the startling revelation about her ancestry.
I go into detail about the ancient prophecy, her role in it, and myths surrounding celestial or Fae lineages that Adrian showed me. Danica's eyes go wide with disbelief and confusion.
"There's something important I need to show you." She retrieves a faded, cryptic note left with her as a baby. "This was found with me when I was adopted. But the writing and symbols look like nothing I've ever seen."
She hands it to me, and I inspect the markings closely. Intricate sigils and flowing script resemble an ancient angelic tongue. My eyes widen in awe.
"This is written in a celestial language. Where did you get this?" I ask urgently.
Danica looks stunned. "It was left with me as an infant. My adoptive parents had no idea what it said. You really think these symbols are celestial?"
I trace the arcane letters reverently. My pulse races. "This script is ancient, as are the symbols."
She shakes her head, struggling to grasp the implications. "I just don't see how I could truly be connected to these celestial beings you describe. Are you certain I'm...one of them?"
I grasp her hands tightly. "Nothing is certain yet. But this note, your emerging talents—something profound has awakened within you." I search her confused eyes.
"I know it's overwhelming. But we will unravel this mystery together, I promise."
Dani and mortals alike for so long thought all this was just a myth. "My brother, Adrian, would have more knowledge on this topic.”
“Unbelievable,” she murmurs.
“Through years of knowledge and personal experience with some, plus the ancient prophecies, I tend to accept that these other entities exist. Plus, I have researched them in my home library,” I offer.
Fear and awe war openly on Danica's face as she tries to absorb my words. "I'm not ready for this, Rhyland. What if I can't get a handle on these abilities? What if I mess it all up?" Her voice quivers with raw vulnerability.
I wrap my arms around her, pull her close, and run my fingers through her hair. "Listen, it's normal to have doubts, especially with all this crazy unknown shit we're dealing with. I'm gonna teach you how to kick ass with whatever powers are starting to stir in you." I lift her chin, locking onto those glimmering honey eyes of hers. "But let's get one thing straight—you're already tough as nails, got a heart of gold, and enough grit to outlast this storm. This bullshit confusion doesn't stand a chance against your light."
Danica clings to me tightly, emotions spilling over. "I'm trying to believe that. It's just—everything I thought I knew about myself has suddenly changed." She takes a shaky breath. "But with you, I feel like I can face whatever comes."
