Story: Belong With Me

Extended Epilogue

Sienna

Finally pleased with the end result, I read over my correspondence once more.

Dear Daddy.

You’ll be pleased to know I’ve acquired information on the landowners of Belle Springs for you. The three main ranches in town are owned by well-respected families and have been in those families for generations, some of these sit on rather large oil deposits that I know you would be very interested in.

However, due to your incompetence as a father, and that a town full of strangers has welcomed me into their community more so than you and Momma ever did as a daughter, I’ve advised them that any deal with you would be ill-advised. You should also know; I’ll also be representing them in court if anyone thinks of making a move on their properties or any others in the Belle Springs or surrounding areas. As you know, I graduated top of my class at Harvard Law. And thus, I’m extremely well qualified for the position.

You’ll also be pleased to know that your son-in-law is a cowboy who’s VERY good in bed. If I hadn’t been such a good and dutiful daughter, I may have never found the love of my life. So, thank you for pushing me so hard to do whatever it takes for the job.

I will however stay true to your wishes in regard to your requirement for every legal document to contain signatures. Please find the enclosed resignation letter with my signature at the bottom. Effective immediately, I no longer wish to be employed at the company.

Enjoy your life, Daddy.

Momma, I do hope you find the tidbit about me finding my husband entitles you to the gossip crown for the foreseeable future.

Yours truly,

Sienna-Grace Larsen

Folding the letter in half and slipping it inside the envelope, I accepted the postage stamp from the lady behind the counter at the post office. After sealing it up, I looked at the address that was my home since I was born and said a final goodbye to that life.

Because to me, that life was 100 percent in the past, never to be revisited again. Not as new life was growing inside me.
