Story: Belong With Me
I began my countdown from five. When I reached the end, we both fired. The can fell off the trunk with a metallic clunk. Logan repositioned his Stetson, so it was facing further down shielding more of his face and located the can. He laughed and brought it over, holding it out for me to see.
I took the can from him and saw where two bullet holes pierced the metal. It was a goddamned draw.
“Looks like we both have confessions to make.” I released with an exhale. “Let’s talk terms.”
“Fine,” he agreed.
Turning to the side, I faced Logan, and with my gun holstered over my shoulder, I looked him in the eyes. “One month. We both have one month to tell these two headstrong women we’re falling for them.”
“I guess I better start working my way into Wyatt’s good books, since I’ve already got a way in with Colton.” Logan laughed before he removed the magazine from his gun and took the bullets out, ever aware that it only took a moment for something bad to happen.
“Deal.” We clasped hands and shook on it.
Now I just had to figure out how to tell Sienna what was going on in my head, and my heart. I guessed I had better start putting serious thought into the date night.
“I’ll see you at home,” I told him. He nodded and we got into the trucks, heading back to the main house. The moment I stepped out, I could smell a roast cooking. My mouth watered at the thought of what was going to be served for dinner.
Ever the loud-mouthed adoptee that he was to our family, I heard Logan yell as he exited his truck and bounded up the stairs and threw open the front door. “Savannah, woman, that pork roast smells so bloody amazing I think I love you!”
I heard a squeak that told me he’d found his way to wherever she was. Sure enough, as I entered the house, setting my hat on its hook and my boots on the rack, I spied Savannah, wrapped in Logan’s arms, blushing a bright red.
I shot him a look and he grinned, shrugging as he let her go and walked closer to me. The smile said everything as he threw me a wink. “We never agreed how serious it had to be.”
Well, brother, that might be the case, but when I told Sienna what I needed to, I wasn’t going to let her go unsatisfied.
