“Wait,” he said.
Her heart fell, the golden warmth behind it coiling in protest.
“Not here,” he continued, standing up. “No soundproofing.”
Eight
Oliver dragged her into his bedroom and immediately stumbled over a sneaker.
Luna giggled, looking around his room. “Wow! Messy.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Oliver kicked the sneaker under his bed, which was… also less tidy than he’d like it. “Sorry, I don’t have a maid.”
“I don’t have a maid,” Luna groaned. “She’s a cleaner, and she only comes once a week.”
“Jesus Christ, stoptalking. We were finally getting along.” Oliver grabbed under her thighs, hoisting her up.
Luna yelped. It quickly turned into a gasp, dimple denting her stupidly adorable cheek as she grinned down at him.Probably never had someone pick her up before, Oliver thought as he held her. He’d had girlfriends who wanted him to use his super-strength to their advantage. Oliver eyed the wall behind her. Later, he decided. Right now, he wanted her splayed out in his messy sheets.
Luna let out another shocked laugh as he dropped her on the mattress.
“Rude,” she said, brushing hair out of her eyes. “You treat all your girls this way?”
“Only the ones who really, really annoy me,” Oliver said.
The bond pulsed in his chest as he crawled on top of her. He wondered if she felt it as strongly as he did. She couldn’t, being a human and all, but it was tempting to imagine that it was lighting her up just like it was doing to him. Tugging at him to get closer. To getmore.
Luna’s mouth was still curved in that flirty smile. For a second, Oliver thought he saw an edge of uncertainty, but then she blinked and it was all hunger again.
She dragged him down into a kiss. The bond in Oliver’s chest pulsed so hot he gasped, jerking back.
Luna stared up at him, pupils huge. Her cheeks were bright red. She was already panting.
“Oh,” she said. “Oh,wow.”
She dragged him back down. Oliver didn’t pull back this time, even as the bond lit a wildfire inside him. Surging, throbbing, wanting him to get closer. He felt drunk with it. He hadn’t felt like this with anyone, not even with?—
He didn’t dare finish the thought. He focused on Luna underneath him, every touch making warmth spiral over his skin.
Luna grunted against his mouth. “Mm. Clothes.”
“Yeah,” he agreed, fingers already working at the hem of her shirt. She was still wearing Sabine’s sleepshirt, which was weird. He quickly forgot about the weirdness as he stripped it off, smoothing his hands down all the exposed skin.
Luna moaned, head tipping back. “Oh my god. They shouldsellthis shit. This feels…”
She yanked at his shirt, and he pulled it off in one swift motion. Then he was on her again, kissing her mouth, her cheek, her neck. Everything felt sogood. The simplest touch turned him molten.
Then all of a sudden, Luna laughed, tugging at his arm.
“What?” Oliver pulled back to see what she was pointing at. “Oh, come on.”
Luna giggled, teasing a finger over his one and only tattoo:party animals, with a howling wolf curled on top.
“It’ssostupid,” Luna crowed. “Were you a frat boy?”
“No. Shut up.” Oliver leaned down again, the bond spasming in delight as he pressed an open-mouth kiss to her shoulder. She let out a small moan, but it was quickly overrun by another laugh.
He made an annoyed noise into her collarbone. “It’s not that funny!”
