Page 44 of Yours Suddenly

“Oh my —!” I gasp.

The watch flies, glinting in the mid-afternoon sun, and falls into the water below with a tiny splash.

“What happened?” Mama says.

“Cal just threw Rome's watch into the ocean!” I say.

“How much was it?” Mama asks

“Half a million,” Roman drawls. “I can get another one.”

He winks at me. He has a dark stubble that creeps along his defined jaw, and it's so, so sexy, I can’t.

“You're lucky you only have one baby,” I point out. “If two babies threw two half-a-million-dollar watches into the ocean, I doubt you’d be winking.”

He smirks. “Is that your way of saying you want to sleep with me?”

“No,” I say.

“The way you're eye-fucking me right now begs to differ.”

“Okay, language!” Adrianne calls. “Language.”

I take our son from him.

“You can't be throwing things into the ocean, baby,” I say, kissing his chubby cheek. “Now,” I whisper, conspiratorially, to my husband, “what were you saying about another baby?”

He smiles. “I'm ready when you are. Always.”

He kisses me and my heart will soar like this forever.
