“You two look ridiculous,” Preston said and shook hishead.
“Our point exactly, ” Katesaid.
We alllaughed.
“Let me see. Let me see.” Kate grabbed Callie’s hand. “Oh my God, it’s gorgeous. Nice jobNoah.”
“Thank you.” Igrinned.
Callie held it up for Kate to study. The smirk on her face made me proud. Kate made a big deal about it. Callie grinned from ear toear.
“Callie Cal.” Preston said and took her hand. “Welcome to thefamily.”
“We’re not married, yet,” Callie said as she huggedPreston.
“That’s just a formality.” He kissed hercheek.
I put my arm on Kate’s shoulders and kissed hercheek.
“I don’t know about you guys, but I have been looking forward to this trip,” Katesaid.
“Need a break from marriage already, babe,” Prestonsaid.
“No, I’m looking forward to enjoying just being Mrs. Kate Carter for a minute.” Kate stepped back. “Listen everyone. For the next five days, Kate Stone does notexist.”
“Okay, but I hope Kate Carter can sing because we have a serious karaoke contest going down on Wednesday at the brewery,” Isaid.
“Yeah, babe. The winner gets free t-shirts.” Preston jumped up and down like a littlekid.
“You’re our secret weapon.” Noah squeezed hershoulder.
“Y’all are so silly,” Kate moved into the kitchen. “We have to start the weekend off with atoast.”
Kate handed Callie and I a glass of champagne, then one toPreston.
I nodded toPreston.
“To the first of many family vacations.” He looked at each of us. “May it continue to be the most anticipated trip of the year … besides the SuperBowl.”
“Oh my God.” Kate and Callie said inunison.
Preston giggled and took asip.
“Yo. To be honest. I’m tired of attending my own Super Bowls.” Prestonnodded.
We all groaned inunison.
“No you’re not,” Katesaid.
“You’re right, I’m not. But,” He held up his hand. “I’d be cool attending your Super Bowl someday, too.” He pointed his glass atme.
“Well if you'd stop kicking my ass in the playoffs, I might have achance.”
“Okay, I’ll take it easy on you next year.” Prestonsaid.
“No you won’t.” Callie hit Preston in thechest.
