Story: Witches Don't Burn, Silly
When my eyes opened it must have only been a few seconds since I had been hit because Leon was still leaning towards me.
But...
My power blew him back.
It was a violent torrent of a hundred different colors. I fought against the powers, desperately trying to contain it.
"How?" I heard Leon shout and my head snapped in his direction even as a foreign weight settled on my back, feeling like it was dragging along the ground. Memories flashed through my mind, a past life that felt so recent although it happened so long ago made my heart hurt. Rage and hurt fought in my heart.
"I will not allow you to stay this way." My voice was ethereal. It echoed and sounded like a raw kind of power. It was ancient and terrifying but giving and kind, gentle but so capable of horrible pain. All of that power rushed back to me, humming underneath my skin as Leon slumped against a wall.
He lifted the ceptor but it shattered before he could use that cursed magic. When I looked at his scared face I saw the little boy when his eyes widened with fear because of a little spider. My heart was pounding with a song of regret that I wasn't there to stop him from going down this path.
I gently placed my hand on the side of his face. "Don't worry." I whispered. "I will save you from this darkness." Tears welled in his eyes. I let instinct take over as my power flowed through him, clearing out that corruption.
He started to shrink, his face became rounder. The muscle on his body disappeared and his hands became soft and pudgy. I watched as his dark eyes fluttered close. Soon he was drowning in the pile of clothes, so small and innocent and that core of magic was a soft lavender.
I stepped away, taking deep breaths, the weight on my back left, unsure of what I had really done as his eyes started to open. I took a seat in front of him, my light blue skirts spilled around me.
"Mommy?" He asked as he sat up, naked as the day he was born. "Where are we?" He pouted as he waddled over to me. "I don't like it here."
"I know. I will get you home soon." I whispered as I wrapped my arms around him. "Let's go home, Leon."
