One year later...
Honey stood in the spacious backyard of the Hallgren family ranch, admiring the festive scene.
White silk drapes fluttered in the breeze between the tall oak trees that provided welcomed shade from the hot Texas sun.
Rows of white folding chairs faced an archway woven with wildflowers, where Honey would soon marry the love of her life, Will Pierce.
She smiled as her gaze drifted over the guests who were visiting with each other while waiters passed trays of tangy lemonade and savory appetizers.
Her parents stood off to one side, laughing with Aunt Cynthia and her fiancé, Steed.
Honey waved at Maria and Theo, who were canoodling under the oak tree like two lovebirds. She hoped their wedding would be next.
"Looking good, cuz!" Ronnie sauntered over to her side, decked out in an ill-fitting gray suit he must have borrowed from Steed. "You clean up nice for a bride."
"Thanks, I think." She chuckled. Ronnie's compliments always came out a little awkward. But she loved him anyway.
"The food's great. And I filled up on about a dozen shrimp cocktails." He leaned in and whispered, "But between you and me, I think we should have sprung for an open bar."
Before she could reply, the sound of horse hooves clip-clopping on pavement drew her attention. A white horse-drawn carriage came into view, pulling up to the end of the graveled driveway. Her groom had arrived in style.
The carriage door opened and Will stepped out, looking like Prince Charming in his black tuxedo and cowboy boots. He waved at the cheering guests, then hurried over to Honey's side.
"You look beautiful," he said, leaning in to give her quick kiss on the cheek so as not to smudge her lipstick.
"And you look very handsome, but I can't believe you arrived in a horse-drawn carriage."
He grinned. "I wanted to make a big entrance for my bride."
The sound of a spoon clinking against a glass interrupted them. Her father stood on a small platform that had been set up beneath the flowered archway.
"It's time!" Honey said, linking her arm through Will's. This was the moment she'd been waiting for.
As they walked down the grassy aisle together, she whispered, "I'm so happy you're in my life."
"I'm the lucky one," Will murmured. "Because I get to spend forever with the sweetest bee in Texas."
