“You see what Finesse was doing behind my back was ensuring I just controlled the property. I trusted that White boy too much to think he would never double-cross me but he did. I simply controlled the property but I never owned it.” She shoots a glance at Cameron. “He did. He and Eric. I may have screwed father and son but they both collectively fucked me over.

“Once I realized what was going on, I started to keeping closer tabs on Finesse and see what he was doing. To my surprise, he was still loyal to me though he double-crossed me. Weird paradox, huh? It was a matter of time before he would eventually turned on me so I cut him loose.” She shrugs. “And now he has risen in power and not realizing I still have pretty powerful strings of my own.”

Jacqueline walks away from Cameron and stands a small distance from him. She crosses her arms and just smiles at him. “Is that everything, Finesse?”

“Almost.” Cameron smiles at her. “You’re forgetting the part you’re the reason why Claire keeps relapsing. You joined her social circle. You introduced her to the drugs. You’re also forgetting I joined EAC to get even with you, unbeknownst to you. You’re also forgetting the part where you stole a lot of money from me. Around ten million, give or take. That’s why I stopped fucking with you.”

“And you turned around to earn more, didn’t you?” Jacqueline replies. “Like targeting the owner’s daughter of a coffee shop?” She turns to me and my emotions are once again on my face. “Oh, you didn’t know that, baby girl? Oh yes, Finesse has known about your father for a long time He had his eye on his coffee shop for a hot minute.

“Your father built two coffee shops, but the main one is the one everyone wants. Your father built the shop on property that has mineral rights. It might have been a few thousand when your father bought it, but it’ll be worth millions in few years.

“Lamont knew that and that’s why he didn’t want to sell it. He was never going to sell it. Generational wealth and all that bullshit.” Jacqueline rolls her eyes and I want to fight the bitch. “So, he had to be killed.”

“We weren’t expecting, however, you and Finesse to form an alliance. Once we knew that, well, you both have to be taken out.” Jacqueline turns her focus to Cameron. “Whatever snipers you may have had, they’re dead now. All of my men are watching and ready to pull the trigger when I say so.” She walks up to him and caresses his face. “Any last words from you and your bitch?”

Cameron smiles. “As always, you underestimated me, Jackie. You may have killed some shooters, so you claim. But more than likely, your shooters are dead. Someone forgot my CIA and Colombian connections, huh?” He chuckles and Jacqueline’s face drops. “I’m talking to you right now and no one pulled the trigger.” His smile grows. “I can talk all night and no one will pull a trigger but that wouldn’t be fun.” The smile disappears from his face. “But you disrespect my woman, you disrespect me, so the only dead bitch in this place will be you.”

Jacqueline’s face morphs into visible anger and she charges towards Cameron, jumping on top of him. She knocks him to the ground and they tussle. She’s hitting and screaming at Cameron, while he’s trying to block every hit.

They move all over the room and finally they stop as Jacqueline regains control and squeezes Cameron’s waist with her thighs. He cries out in pain and she just laughs at him. “What’s wrong, baby boy? It’s not so fun anymore, isn’t it? I can kill you right here and right now and there’s not a damn thing you and your bi—” A loud bang interrupts Jacqueline’s speech and she collapses on top of Cameron.

Cameron locked eyes with me and sees me holding the gun. “She…she was going to kill you.” I slowly set the gun down. “I…I couldn’t let that happen.”

Cameron shoves Jacqueline’s body off him and he gets up. He rushes over to me and gives me a warm embrace. “No one likes to do it.”

I never killed someone before and I’m not sure how to feel. Euphoria because I saved Cameron’s life? Scared because now I’m an official target? Anger I was put in the position to do it? Relief that everything is over?

I wrap my arms around Cameron and sob into his chest as he strokes my hair and comforts me. I soon hear footsteps and radio noise from what sounds like Cameron’s security and shooters.

Cameron calmly talks to them, giving them instructions on what to do. He never lets go of me. I don’t know what to do anymore and I honestly don’t know where to go from here. I pull back and look into his eyes. “Is it over now? No more death? No more violence?”

“It’s over,” he nods, “we’re done.”

“Are you out?” I shake my head. “I can’t do this anymore, Cam I’m not meant for this life.”

“I’m out,” he says with reassurance. He kisses my forehead and pulls me in for another hug. The stress of everything we’ve gone through over the past two years is finally over. “We’re getting married, raising our family, and I’m out.”

The End
