Chapter Fifteen
BILLIE
“ B ook club time is the best time,” Polly Wild announces before taking her final bite of a cherry tart that Jackie brought from The Sugar Studio. “It’s my favorite night of the month.”
“Absolutely,” Dani agrees with a nod.
It makes me so happy that these ladies love this time together as much as I do. My staff and I work hard to make sure everything is ready for our book club nights, and it’s honestly my favorite thing, too. Not to mention, I love that Skyla, Dani, and I came up with it one day.
Best spontaneous decision ever.
Once everyone is armed with next month’s read, and the crowd has thinned down to our core group of besties, Millie, Alex, Dani, Skyla, and I sit with a glass of wine and grin at each other.
“That was fun,” I say.
“Best one yet,” Millie agrees. “Our group keeps growing. ”
“Yeah, yeah, we love spicy books, blah blah blah,” Alex says, waving us off.
“I want to hear about Billie and Connor because I have sources—who I’ll never disclose—who have seen them all over town together, looking super cozy and mushy and cute, and we haven’t had a girls’ night since the night of the bar, and you need to spill it, girl. ”
“Hold up.” I raise a hand and shake my head. “You’re skipping something very important, friend. We need to know about the two dudes you went home with that night.”
“ Excuse me ?” Millie interrupts. “What in the actual fuck? Why do I always miss the good stuff? You left with two men? Alex Lexington! Wait until I tell your brother.”
“You will absolutely not tell my brother,” Alex says with a smug smile.
Millie is married to Dani and Alex’s older brother, Holden, and the siblings are super close to each other.
“I forbid it. Anywho, yes, I met two amazing men at the bar that night, Adam and Gabe, and yes , I’m still seeing them both, and the sex is off the charts, and you’re all jealous of me. ”
“Wait, you’re having sex with both of them?” Skyla demands. “On the regular, and you haven’t told us?”
“Oh girl,” Alex replies, fanning her face. “Hell to the yes. And they have sex with each other, and it’s a whole magical thing.”
We’re all quiet as we stare at our friend. Dani frowns at her twin as if she’s grown a second head.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Dani demands, hurt coating her voice .
“Well, at first I thought it was just going to be a drunken one-night thing, but now it’s sort of … not. ”
“What does that mean?” I ask her.
“It’s kind of turning into a relationship. A throuple , if you will. It’s new and different, and I don’t even know how things will shake out because it’s so outside of societal norms, but … they’re both incredible. There’s no way I could choose between them, and I don’t have to.”
I don’t know my cousin Gabe well, but I’ve known for a long time that he’s bisexual. He’s a good guy, and I’m happy that he’s moved here so I can get to know him better.
“I mean, they’re sexy as fuck,” I add. Alex blushes, which is so unlike her, and I can’t help but laugh. “Millie, one of her new men is my cousin Gabe. His family is from Silver Springs, but he recently moved over here to work for Brooks at the garage.”
“Reeeeeally,” Millie says, drawing out the word. “I’ve met Gabe a few times. That man is sexy. Who’s the other guy?”
“His name is Adam.” Alex tucks her hair behind her ear, still blushing. “He’s only been living here for about a year.”
“And what does Adam do?” Skyla asks. “Besides you and Gabe.”
I can’t help but snort at that. God, my friends are funny.
“He’s in finance.” Alex shrugs a shoulder, and we all stare at her. “What?”
“Let me get this straight,” Dani says, leaning in. “ You’re currently in a situationship with two hot dudes. One is a blue-collar grease monkey and one is a rich, wears-a-suit, white-collar guy?”
“I didn’t say he was rich,” Alex says, then nods when we all just keep staring at her. “Okay, he’s loaded. Like stupid rich. Maybe not as wealthy as Connor or Ryan, but he’s doing better than most.”
“Wow.” Millie holds up her glass of wine. “Cheers to you, girl.”
“We just want you to be happy,” I agree with a nod. “And based on what I saw that night, they’re both nice guys. I already knew that about Gabe, but you know what I mean.”
“It doesn’t suck to be worshipped by two hot men at once,” she admits with a smug grin. “Anyway, I’ll keep you posted on that. Now, Bee needs to spill the beans.”
“My beans are not as spicy as the ones you just shared,” I reply. “Although, to be fair, Connor is damn fucking spicy in his own right. Things are good, guys. I asked him for more than sex, and he’s delivering. There is swoon and sex, and it’s awesome.”
Dani’s head tilts to the side as she examines my face. “What aren’t you telling us?”
“Nothing.”
Do I sound defensive? Yeah. Dammit, I do.
I smooth out the skirt of the Louis Vuitton dress I’m wearing, then sip my wine, but they’re still silent, waiting for an answer.
Why do I have besties who know me so well? It’s fucking inconvenient .
“It scares me,” I admit in a low voice. Dani immediately reaches out to take my hand, giving it a squeeze.
“And you know that I’m not self-conscious about how I look, and I know I’m badass, but part of me is doing the whole why me thing.
Like is he only giving me more because he also wants the sex?
Did I twist his arm? And when he’s decided that he’s over it, will he move on to someone richer? Prettier? Smarter?”
“Whoa,” Skyla says, shaking her head. “I can tell you that none of that is true. If he’s giving you more , it’s because he wants to.
My brother doesn’t do relationships. He always said that it caused entanglements he didn’t want to deal with.
And I’ve spoken with him, Bee. You can relax and enjoy him because I don’t think he’ll be over it anytime soon. ”
I take a deep breath at that and sip my wine. In safe spaces like this, I’m comfortable having a little alcohol again.
“You think?”
“I know,” she replies. “Also, Connor’s levelheaded. When you start to feel insecure, talk to him.”
Talk to me, angel.
He says that all the time. Maybe I need to be bolder about asking for what I want. I asked for more , and he gave it to me.
“Maybe I need to trust him more,” I murmur. “Sometimes he can be a little intimidating, you know?”
“No, not a sexy-as-hell billionaire.” Alex chuckles. “I’d be shocked if you didn’t have moments of being intimidated. ”
“I guess that’s true.”
The bell over the door dings, and in walks the man himself. He’s changed from his suit to black jeans and a short-sleeved black button-down. I’m pretty sure my vagina just started to drool, thanks to the way those short sleeves hug his biceps.
He walks straight for me, pulls me out of the chair, and tips my chin up so he can kiss the hell out of me.
“Get it, girl,” Millie calls out while the others whoop and clap, and I can’t help but laugh against his lips.
“I missed you,” he says, kissing my forehead.
“And that’s our cue to leave,” Dani declares. “It was fun tonight, ladies. Next month, it’s unhinged dark hockey players for the win.”
Connor’s eyebrows lift in surprise, and I laugh as I pull away and walk my friends to the door.
“Drive safe, guys.”
“See you,” Dani says, giving me a hug. “Call me if you need me.”
“Same goes, always.” I kiss her cheek. When they’re all gone, I lock the door behind them. When I turn, Connor’s watching me, his hands in his pockets. “You didn’t have to pick me up here.”
“It was on the way to your house,” he reminds me. “What do you need me to do?”
“It’s all done,” I reply and cross to him, smoothing my hand up his chest to his cheek. “I just have to turn off the lights.”
He takes my hand and kisses my palm, sending a spark down my arm.
With a grin, I walk away and into the back of the store, where the electrical box is. I’ve just shut off the light switch when I feel him behind me.
“I don’t think I can wait to do this until we get to your place.” He pushes my hair to the side, exposing my neck, and brushes wet kisses up to my hairline, making me lean back into him.
“It’s only five minutes from here.” My voice has gone rough and breathy. He’s gathering the skirt of my dress up until it’s around my waist, and his hand is between my legs, brushing over the tiny scrap of my thong.
“Too far,” he growls. “Bleedin’ hell, you’re so wet for me.”
One finger slips through my folds and plunges inside me, and I whimper as I lean my forehead against the wall in front of me.
“Connor.”
“So tight,” he whispers against my skin as he peppers kisses along the slope of my shoulder. “So bloody everything. I can’t keep my hands to myself.”
“I don’t want you to.” He adds a second finger, and I quiver around him. “Fuck, I’m gonna?—”
“Not yet,” he growls next to my ear. “My greedy girl, you’re not going to come quite yet. All I’ve thought about today is you. When I’m supposed to be working, you’re in my head. Your smart mouth and your sweet smile and the way this pussy tightens around me.”
“Oh my God.”
I hear his zipper behind me, the rustle of fabric, and then the crown of his cock is right there .
“Tell me.”
“I want you,” I moan, pushing my ass back at him, practically begging him to fuck me already. “Please.”
“That’s my girl.” He pushes inside me all the way, and he’s so big. I’m so full, I can’t help myself from crying out. “You take me so well, mo rúnsearc. Christ, you’re so fucking beautiful.”
With his hands on my hips, he sets a punishing rhythm, his hips slapping my ass with every thrust.
“Connor … ah, hell. Fuck, I’m going to come. I can’t?—”
“Do it,” he says, fisting his hand in my hair at the nape of my neck, and when he tugs, there’s no stopping the climax that consumes me. “That’s it. That’s my girl. God, you’re so bloody gorgeous when you let go like that.”
He pumps into me three more times, and then he’s grinding against me as he groans, filling me up as he comes, his forehead resting on my shoulder.
