Sam burst out laughing. “You’re nuts, do you know that?”
Mark stilled, his gaze focused on Sam’s face. “But you love me.”
There was a drumming in Sam’s chest, and a joy that wouldn’t be contained.
“Yeah, I do.” He moved closer. “You know I said we couldn’t spend all day in bed?”
“Mm-hm.”
He smiled. “I think I’ve changed my mind.”
Mark’s pupils darkened a little. “Do you want to come back to my place?”
Sam nodded. “But we’ll need to make a little detour.”
“Somewhere specific?”
Another nod. “The supermarket.” He cocked his head. “Unless you’ve already got everything we need?”
Mark’s lips parted. “Morrisons is less than five minutes from here.”
He chuckled. “Then why are we standing here?” His heart pounded.
It was time to hand in the V-card.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Sam climbedthe stairs to Mark’s flat, his heartbeat still racing. It had been that way ever since they’d got into the car at Shanklin.
Why am I in such a state? I’m not a virgin, for God’s sake.
Technically, that was true. But the few blowjobs he’d given and received had only made him wonder how it would feel, if it would hurt.
If Rebecca could see me now, she’d probably be laughing her arse off.
But that was the kind of person she was.
Mark will make it good for me.
Sam knew that with every nerve, cell, and fibre.
Mark unlocked the door, pushed it open, and they went inside.
“You’re way too quiet,” he remarked as Sam wandered into the living room.
Sam bit back a smile. “I’m thinking too much.” Then he recalled what has also been on his mind all the way to Ryde. “Can I take a shower?”
Mark shifted closer, and Sam’s heart thudded like a bass drum. He cupped Sam’s cheek. “You know where everything is. Don’t take too long, because I want it next.”
“I need to wash the sand off.”
Mark chuckled. “What you mean is, you want to be squeaky clean everywhere. Good thinking. I had the same idea.” He leaned in, and Sam melted a little when Mark claimed his lips in a long kiss. Mark let out another chuckle. “I swear, I need a box when you’re around. Why did you have to be so tall?”
“A question I’ve asked myself most of my life.” Then the breath stuttered in Sam’s throat when Mark slid his hand lower to brush the back of his fingertips over Sam’s bulge.
“At least you’re in proportion.”
Shivers trickled down Sam’s spine. “I’ll be right back.”
