Page 8 of Vex & Suki (COSMIC CROWS MC #1)

I t’s family day at the Cosmic Crows MC compound.

This is something that Suki had initiated not long after she arrived.

Not that any of the brothers complained, especially when it came with food, even if Suki made us cook it on fires outside.

It was a foreign concept to us. We knew how.

It was how we cooked if we were camping, but never when we were home and had access to a kitchen.

She’d insisted and had shown us different ways to prepare meat. My favourite was when she had us do a hank in the smoker. A lot had changed since Suki and her sisters appeared in our lives. All my closest brothers were mated, and we’d all started our own families.

I’d had to enlist Zar’s help in getting Suki legal papers, and he’d done it. It meant that I owed him a personal favour, but Suki was worth it.

It meant that she was safe to go into Malimoor and do day-to-day stuff with her sisters without having to worry. Although she was always with an escort because I wasn’t taking any chances with her.

Kragor was living his best life surrounded by females that he loved like they were his own blood and who spoilt him, showering him with affection.

Even Vena. He was Granda to all our offspring.

And there were many. My brothers were a prolific lot.

We’d eventually had to build our own housing, but we’d kept to our land for safety and built them behind the clubhouse.

If we ever needed to go on lockdown, then we retreated to the clubhouse, as it was still the most easily defensible building.

Suki and Lyra had taken over a small plot of land and had planted a garden.

We also had chooks for eggs. Luna had taken over all aspects of the finances for our businesses.

She ran a tight ship, and I’d had more than one prospect come crying to me after she’d torn a strip off them.

But with her mate being the Sergeant at Arms, they knew better than to say anything to Luna.

It was best they moaned to me if they wanted to keep their hides intact.

Val and Vena had started their own business training fighters. Their fighters were known all over the galaxy as undefeatable. It was said that beings quaked in their boots when they knew they were up against someone who had been trained at V-Sqrd.

Yes, life was good.

Familiar soft arms wrap themselves around me. “Everything okay, my love?” Suki asks, looking up at me, love sparkling in her vibrant eyes.

Tilting my head down, I smile into the eyes of my one love, my mate, my Ol’ Lady. I’m still amazed all these years later that she’d found her way to me.

“Perfect, stor mo chroí ,” I answer, pressing my lips to the crown of her head, breathing in the scent that’s uniquely hers. “Everything is perfect.”
