Laughing through my tears, I looked down at the princess-cut sapphire flanked by a pair of diamonds.“The same color as your eyes,” he whispered, sliding the band over my ring finger.A perfect fit.“Does this mean you’ll marry me?”

“You always did have a way with words,” I whispered, admiring the ring but not nearly as much as the man who put it on my finger. It was sweet, thinking of him worrying about it while I was completely unaware.

“Will you marry me, Lenny?”he whispered.

It was the simplest decision in the world.“Yes.Yes, I will!I would marry you tomorrow in one of those cheesy wedding chapels on the strip if you wanted. So long as you’re mine.”

Chuckling, he looked around us.“I’ve already done the proposal in the butler’s pantry. You deserve the full wedding experience.”

Who was I to argue with that?“Come on.I can’t wait to tell everybody I’m going to be your wife.”I was trembling with excitement at the promise of our future together by the time my feet touched the floor. Not that I felt it.I might as well have been in the clouds.

It had taken us a long time to find the road to each other. Now that we were on it, I could hardly wait to see where it would lead.
