“I’m glad I can still surprise you after two years.” Nash strokes my cheek, directing me to look at him. “You know,” he starts, “I wouldn’t be mad if you gained a little bit more weight. If it happens, it happens, and you’ll be even more beautiful.”

I blush because of course that’s something he would say. I was so worried throughout my entire pregnancy about every pound of fat that was being added to my body, but it just seems to make the fire behind Nash’s eyes burn brighter.

“Did I say something a little too shocking again?” Nash asks with a glint to his eye.

“No,” I shake my head. “But I can whip out a surprise here and there as well, and there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.”

He smiles again.

“What is it?”

“Well, I went to the doctor the other day, and I’m expecting,” I smile, dropping the news on Nash. His brow furrows, and his mouth drops open.

“Expecting?” It takes him a couple of seconds, but then realization washes over his face, and his lips turn up into a big smile. “You meanexpectingexpecting?”

“Yeah, Bree is going to have a sibling in about seven months.” Nash jumps off the bed and scoops me up, spinning around with me in arms.

“That’s amazing! I can’t wait, sweetheart. We have the room, and Bree is going to make the perfect big sister, and we’re going to be the best parents!” I laugh because of how excited Nash is.

“Youalreadyare a wonderful daddy,” I say with a smile. But my boyfriend doesn’t hear me.

“Shit baby, do you know what we should do?” Nash asks.

“What?” I’m not sure what he could be talking about, but I’m excited to find out. Whenever he gets excited, it’s always something good.

Instead of answering, he holds his hands up.

“Wait here. I’ll be right back.” He literally runs from our room, the door closing behind him. I have no idea what Nash is going to come back with, but my heart is pounding with hope.

The door opens a couple of minutes later. Nash comes back in with a glowing smile on his handsome face. Plus, he has one hand behind his back. I try to sneak a peek, but he’s being very careful not to reveal the surprise.

“So, I’ve been planning on doing this for a while, and why not now? It’s Valentine’s Day, after all. That being said, Nellie Newman, I can see myself spending the rest of my life with you and however many children we end up having. I’m so glad you decided to say yes to jumping on my motorcycle that night and getting this whole relationship in motion.”

Suddenly, Nash gets down on one knee, and my dreams are coming true. My hands go to my mouth to contain my gasp.

“If you’ll have me in all my weirdness and with all the demands I make. If you’ll have me even though I can be stubborn, and I don’t always listen to you when you tell me not to spoil my girls. If you’ll have me every which way till Sunday, then I’d like to ask for your hand in marriage, Nellie Newman.”

The words come out a little choppy with emotion, but they pierce my heart. Then, Nash brings what he has hidden behind his back into view, and I see it’s a set of keys. What? No engagement ring? What’s happening?

Nash grins again.

“I can see that you’re confused, but I bought you a bike because I want to teach you how to ride your own chopper. I was hesitant to give it to you while you were pregnant with Bree, but now you’re pregnant again, so we’ll just have to wait another year or so for those lessons. But I still wanted to give you the surprise.”

Again, his words are somewhat incoherent, but I want to cry because this is such a Nash thing to do: propose to me with the key ring from a motorcycle he bought me more than a year ago.

“Yes, I’ll marry you!” I lean forward with tears in my eyes, and we kiss. The kiss is full of all the promise of the future, and the love that we share.

Nash stands up and hands me the keys before capturing my lips again. I wrap my arms around his neck, pressing myself into my soon to be husband.

“And yes, I’ll let you teach me how to ride,” I tack on. “I’d go to the ends of the earth for you, Nash Keller.”

“And I’d walk through fire for you, baby.”

We kiss again, and I smile because I finally got my happily ever after. The one I truly deserve, with a gorgeous man by my side, a baby in the nursery, and a new addition on the way. Life can’t be better, and I’m so happy to finally marry my Valentine’s Day daddy.
