Though, curiosity gets the better of me and I can’t help but ask, “Who was that?”
Clemente chuckles again and runs his nose along my neck. The endearing move always makes goose bumps spread my skin.
“In a moment,” he says.“I want some more of this before it’s ruined.”
His words spike my attention.
“Before it’s ruined?”I push off his chest to hover over him and glare.“What’s going on?”
“I’m the proud uncle of a little girl,” he says with a big grin.
My eyes go wide.“She had the baby?In the blink of a freaking eye? How’s that even possible?”
“Beats me, but all is healthy and fine according to Henley. His message said to take our time since Donya and Arturo are on their way straight from the airport with Beck and Flora. They just landed from their trip to Italy.”
I can’t help but dash off the bed.
“I did mention the whole ‘take our time’ thing, right?”Clemente chuckles.
I ignore his statement and head for the bathroom.I stop right before entering and tell him.“New life just came into this world and I can’t wait to wrap it into my arms. And yes, we are taking our time since we have a future filled with it.But that doesn’t take away the anticipation. It’s the whole family, friends, bonding, love and devotion angle linking all of us together. So, get dressed. We can take our time when it’s our little girl coming into this world.”
Clemente stalks toward me and places his hand against my belly.“And why are you so sure we’re having a little girl this time?”
“The lack of morning sickness is a good indication. This pregnancy has already been completely different than when I was pregnant with Emilio. And maybe because my grandmother told me I’d have a man who would love me more than life itself and who would give me a son and a daughter along with everything my heart desires.”
He leans in to feather his lips against mine.“Fairytales.Pregnancies are rarely the same, it doesn’t give any indication about the gender.Though, your grandmother was right about a lot of things.”
“You mean besides the whole sperm stings when it hits your eye?Because we’re not repeating that. One time is enough,” I grumble, remembering the incident a few years back where I seriously had to rinse my eye with bottled water to make the stinging fade.
Clemente’s booming laughter fills the air before his face grows serious.“That too.But I was implying the fact about me loving you more than life itself. And no matter if we’re graced with a girl or another boy, none of it matters because all that matters is life itself.Healthy and together to enjoy for as long as we both shall live.”
“Hmmm,” I hum.“Sounds like mighty fine vows.I think I’ll keep you to that.”
“Good. Now let’s get into the shower so I can give you some more loving before we head out to meet the new member of our family that keeps growing.”
And if possible, my heart swells some more for this man, letting him pull me along to follow him wherever he might lead.
Our life.
Our future.
Our growing love and family.
