Shyene: Spell used by Mia, and crafted by the King of the Unseelie—Ash—to weaken an adversary.

The Veil: White energy bubble that protects Penumbra from the beasts of the Hunt. Uses an ancient blood spell meant to protect royal fae kin from being abducted and used in battle.

Blood Moon happens every three months. It marks a time where the veil in between the mortal land and the spirit lands thin enough and the fae can ride with the spirits. Used by the riders of the Wild Hunt.

Scientists, a group in penumbra who maintain the veil.

Librarians, a group of magical people in Penumbra who protect the magical grimoires; forbidden to wield their power.

Strix, a bird, a bad omen; the name Ash’s father gave the hybrids.

The House of Strix, a group formed when hybrids banded together to hunt fae after Aphelion fell to the curse.

Hybrids, part human part fae.

Naga, snake-like beings who live in the seelie kingdom.

Drawl, bald horse mixed with a boar. Massive, winged.

Hellion, type of spirit made of night and stars. Can shift sizes and travel across planes.

Nightwalker, fabled creatures that live and feed on nightmares.

Lunargyres, beasts created by the curse. They hunt for humans during the Blood Moon. Have different appearances.
