Page 51 of Underworld
Logan reached his climax just as I did, his hard body shuddering as he roared. Our Virtue bond mended, strengthening with his resolve that he and I would always be together.
Loyal.
In love.
Cole laughed in my mind as I came down from my high.
Are you loyal?he asked. You’re still thinking of me.
Logan rubbed his cheek against mine before easing me down to the edge of the mattress.
He steadied me. “Don’t fall,” he murmured teasingly. “Stay,” he said again, this time the command endearing.
I watched him as he went to the bathroom and came out with towels. He lovingly cleaned me, making me want to cry.
He was so sweet. So loyal.
And a rage demon had just pushed his way into our connection. I hadn’t been able tostophim.
Tears pricked at my eyes and I jerked away.
Logan went still. “Lily?”
“I…” Shaking my head, I backed up. I couldn’t tell him. He didn’t deserve more pain.
Leaving without an explanation wouldn’t be much better, but I didn’t have a choice in the matter. Hecouldn’tknow what Cole had just done, because I guessed Logan was one of the few Virtues who had escaped his slow torment. This was a sanctuary, an entirely different realm, one Cole shouldn’t have been able to enter.
But he was here now… because of me. I allowed a loophole, my connection to him bringing him into the safety of Logan’s den.
Cole was right, on some level. I was a multi-hybrid, and because of that, I required a Virtue for each of my shortcomings.
Logan was one of many, and while I recognized I needed more than one Virtue, this was supposed to have beenourtime to bond.
Our time for privacy and sanctuary in his little moonlit den.
Instead, Cole had decided to crash the party.
Greedy fucking bastard.
Heart twisting, I looked for an escape. I readjusted my clothes into place and headed for the door.
I had to get out before he asked what was wrong.
If he saw my eyes, he’d know, because I felt the burn of Cole’s rage swirling inside of me.
“Lily?” Logan shouted as I darted outside.
But I didn’t turn back. I couldn’t look him in the eye again.
Not until I’d dealt with a demon who’d just dug his own grave.
Chapter 13
“I’m going to kill him,” I growled as I stormed through the forest.
Logan had tried to come after me, of course, but I sensed the rejection in our bond when he gave up.
He thought I was angry with him.
