I huffed out a laugh. “You’re so good to me. I don’t even have to lift a finger.”
“Are you serious right now? Omega mine, please don’t forget that you grew our children in your body and birthed them and now feed them from that same body. I’m like an afterthought here. You’re the magic.”
“You’re the best papa ever. That’s what I think. Besides, you did have some participation in making the babies.”
He chuckled. “A little bit. What is your decision, then?”
“I’m coming with you. Give me two seconds to get myself together.”
I got up, and used the bathroom and we were making our way to the main house in no time, Emily in her carrier and Emile somewhere with Zenith probably talking about perimeters and how advanced his camera system was. It was fine with me. Emile was more boisterous than Emily and needed the fresh air.
While Rob and I finished up dinner, the sleuth trickled in. The couples with their babies. Zenith with our son. Butch, who I was suspicious about. Not about his character but about his name. I called him across the yard one day and not until I caught up with him and tapped him on the shoulder did he answer.
He was a quiet, private one.
A tear slipped from my eye and ran down my cheek. It had only just hit my shirt when Rob rushed over. “What’s the matter, omega?”
“I was just thinking how blessed we are.”
Rob rested his chin on my shoulder. “We truly are. And I’m blessed to have such an amazing omega. Thanks for breaking down that gate.”
Locke raised his glass of water. “To omegas who barge into our lives.”
Of course, he heard us.
The rest of the sleuth joined in, but I couldn’t help but see the sadness in Butch’s eyes. Maybe one day his omega would break through and find him as well.
