AIDAN
One Year Later
" A ddison, you have to hurry up. We're already running late, baby."
Addison pokes her head out of our bedroom, letting her hair fall over her shoulder as she says, "How can we be late when you're the guest of honor?"
"I don't want to make everyone wait for me just because I'm the new head of the department. It's going to take us at least twenty minutes to get there."
"Yes, and parking, and cocking, and mingling?—"
This time, I interrupt her with a chuckle. "Cocking?"
Addison's grin is magnetic. "Is that a question, Professor?"
"Yes. At what point were you planning to spring that on me?"
"I was kind of hoping for you to spring that on me between the appetizers and your speech," she replies and steps out of the room into the light.
"Wow," is the only word to come out of me as I take her in from head to toe.
The emerald green satin gown hugs her silhouette perfectly. Her luscious blonde hair is slicked to the side with large waves. I prefer her curls, but this look is just as glamorous.
"Arriving with you, looking like this, is well worth making everyone wait," I tell her with a gentle kiss.
Addison leans into it, slipping her tongue between my lips, and pulls a groan of salacious anticipation out of me.
She pulls away with her devilish grin. "We're going to be late if you start that, Daddy."
My cock twitches, and I know she's right. We take a moment to consider whether we have time for a quick session. Even though it goes against what both our bodies want, we leave our home to attend a university dinner celebrating my promotion.
The night is going perfectly, and my nerves are on edge. Applause erupts around the room after the chancellor brings me to the mic.
"Thank you, Chancellor. I can't express how excited I am to take on this new role. It's my honor and privilege to lead my department and help this institution excel into the next era of academic excellence."
Excellence that doesn't demand professors to mentor or tutor when they're not in a good mental space to do so. Brian didn't understand that, and it's why he's no longer here.
I smile and begin to weave through the tables toward Addison. She smiles and blushes slightly with every step I get closer to her. She takes my hand when I stop in front of her.
"With this new role, I am excited to have the woman I love by my side.
And even more exciting…" I drop to one knee and pull out the ring box to everyone's elated surprise.
I stare into her eyes. "Addison Shaw, you have taught me more about love and my life than I could ever lecture in a classroom. I love you. Will you marry me?"
She nods and pulls me to my feet, tears welling in her eyes. "I love you too. Yes, I will marry you."
