It’s the cutest damn cake I’ve ever seen.
“I was going through a cookbook I found in the back of a drawer,” she says.
I lift a brow, making her laugh.
“And this recipe looked delicious. You had all the stuff—major green flag right there, by the way—so I whipped it up like a professional baker.”
I start to tease her about the last cake she made … and burned. But I think she’s actually quite proud of herself this time. There’s no way in hell I’m diminishing that.
“What flavor is it?” I ask.
“You had a yellow cake mix, so I used that. But I put in a secret ingredient that’s supposed to make it smoother and richer. Then I made the chocolate icing.” She draws her finger around the edge of the cake plate, covering the tip in a thick layer of icing. “Here. Try it.”
She offers it to me. I grab her wrist, then suck the icing off, nipping the tip of her finger with my teeth. It sends a line of fire straight to my cock. I don’t know how I’m keeping up with her. She wants to fuck three or four times a day—I’m here for it. I’ll never say no—but I wonder how long she can keep up that pace.
It’ll be a fun experiment.
“That was very, verygood,” I say. “Do you know what you should do?”
“Take this to the bedroom and roll all over it and then make you lick it off me?”
I nod. “Scratch my idea. Let’s do yours.”
She giggles. “What was your idea?”
“Take that with us to Mom and Dad’s tonight for dinner.”
Her eyes grow wary as she sets the cake on the counter. “Your mom is an excellent cook.”
“So? That cake is amazing. She’ll love it.”
“I don’t know …”
I pull her into a hug and kiss the top of her head. “Don’t do anything you don’t want to do. But I’m proud of you and your cake, and I want to show you off.”
She looks up at me. The pride in her eyes melts my heart. “Really? Or are you screwing with me?”
“I only screw you in the bedroom.”
Although, that’s not true. We’ve screwed in the bathroom, the dining room, the living room, and the kitchen table … Any room where clothes can be removed, they’ve been removed.
I press a long, lingering kiss to her lips. “I’m serious about the cake. Just think about it. If you don’t want to take it, I’m happy to leave it here and eat the whole damn thing.”
Please be good, or else I’m going to have to get very crafty with hiding pieces of cake.
I follow Laina into the living room. She waits for me to sit, then curls up in my lap. It’s her favorite spot, it seems.
“Sorry for taking longer than I said I would today,” I say, sweeping her hair off her shoulder. “Tucker—do you remember him? He owns a trucking company in town.”
“I don’t think I do.”
“Anyway, he called and asked me to swing by. He wants to put a benefit together for Cotton. They were good buddies. Their farms are side by side.”
“That’s nice of him.”
I nod, my chest tightening as I think of Cotton. “Tucker isn’t much of an extrovert, so he asked me and Gavin to help him put it together.”
“You’re going to?”
