Page 42 of Torching Vixen
“How, when, where?” Moose asks rapidly.
“Now that you have your questions answered, are we good?” Prez rises to his feet.
He looks over at us and nods. “Yeah, we’re good!”
“Good, now let's go party!” Pretty Boy says, heading for the door.
We hoot and holler, making our way to the common area where the party is already in full swing. I guide Vixen to the bar, grabbing myself a beer and her a Sprite. Once the sun goes down, we light the bonfire and move the party outside. I sit back in my chair with Vixen curled up on my lap, sleeping. A few brothers are playing guitar.
This is the life. This is what it means to have it all!
My brothers, my woman, and our baby on the way. I kiss the top of Vixen’s head, smoothing the hair from her face.
“I love you, Torch!” she mumbles in her sleep.
“I love you, Vixen!”
Epilogue
Razor
How can one’s life get so fucked up? I had it all—my club and brothers, and the start of something amazing. I should’ve followed Prez’s advice and left the life I had behind before he found me. Did I listen? Did I do as he asked me to? No, I thought I knew it all, and no one would ever know that I looked them up. How wrong I was because once I had the number and knew that I had a brother out there, I had to talk to him.
Now, I’m going to lose the woman I love, and I have to lie to my brothers because the person on the other end of the line needs my help. I find Edge standing at the bar, talking to one of the club girls. I need to talk to her. I can’t tell her what’s going on, not now. I just pray it doesn’t cost me everything.
I make it halfway across the room when Star steps in front of me, running her finger up my arm. “Razor, baby, are you ready for bed?”
“Where’s Starla?” I ask. Fuck, this woman is a piece of work.
“She’s in her room sleeping. Your Mom, I think, offered to feed and put her to bed so I could enjoy the party,” she says, wrapping her arm around my neck. “Let’s go to your room,” she says, loud enough for everyone to hear her.
I growl, “I’m going to check on Starla, then my computers. I’ll meet you there.”
I walk down the hall toward Starla’s room and find Blue rocking her as she fusses. As soon as I walk through the door, I cradle her to my chest, rocking side to side. Starla instantly calms.
“She trusts you,” Blue says, handing me her blanket.
“I don’t know why. This is all so crazy,” I mutter under my breath.
“Razor, I don’t know what you are doing. What I do know is that this isn’t right. This charade you have with Star isn’t going to last,” she states.
I open my mouth to tell another lie or make an excuse, something to keep this going. I make eye contact with her, and I know that anything I say now is just calling her ignorant.
“I don’t know, Blue. I’m just taking care of my family and trying to be the best brother I can,” I tell her.
“I know, Razor. The thing you need to remember is that you can’t do it all on your own. We are all here for you!” Blue says, walking out the door.
I sit in the rocking chair, looking down at the only innocent party in this. Once Starla is asleep, I lay her in her bed and head to my office, where I’ll spend my night until I can figure something else out. I’m so lost in my head that I run right into the only other person I would give my life for.
“Shit, sorry, Edge,” I say, holding onto her arms.
“It’s all good, Razor.” She takes a deep breath, and I know what she’s fixing to say is going to wreck me. “In the morning, I’ll be out of your way. I’m moving out and ask that we avoid each other any time I come to see Vix.”
“Edge, please. You don’t understand. I just need time,” I say to her.
“Razor, I’m not going to be the reason that baby’s parents aren’t together. I wish you nothing but the best with your new life,” Edge replies, swallowing hard to hold back the tears.
She pushes by me, slamming the door to her room. Behind the door, I hear the sob she can no longer hold back.
With that sob, I want to destroy everything and everyone around me.
