“I was only kidding!” she said, slapping his chest. “People will be here any minute now.”

As predicted, there was knocking at the door, but it was only a formality since Sofia let herself in.

“Finally! I’ve barely seen you since you’ve moved here,” she said, greeting Ginger in the living room. “And now I can see why. My guess is that you wanted that bite mark to heal up before you went out in public,” she added, watching Chance emerge from the bedroom.

“You have to see this,” Ginger begged, holding out her hand.

“Oh my Gods! It’s beautiful!”

“We haven’t picked a day or anything. He just gave it to me this morning.”

“I bet he did,” Sofia teased.

The front door opened and two children, a boy and a girl, ages three and four, charged into the house and tackled Ginger onto the couch.

“Sorry, they just can’t get enough of their brand-new surprise Aunt Ginger,” James said, entering the house with his mate.

“Because they know I have all the cool gifts. Seriously, I have a lot of Christmases to make up for!”

“And I have something for you,” James said, handing her a gift. He called off the kids to give her space.

Opening it, she immediately began to cry. It was a portrait of her and James with her parents, taken at their last Christmas together.

“I had it professionally restored and framed.”

“Thank you, for everything. All of you. This Christmas, my memories, my home, my mate and my pack, this is the best Christmas I could have ever wished for.”
