Chapter 1
Stilettos, Sweat, and Secret Obsessions
Maddison sucked in her stomach and yanked the zipper of her black tight mini skirt, halfway up before giving up entirely and throwing a blazer over it.
It didn’t close, it never did but that wasn’t the point. Her heels clicked like gunshots as she stormed through her shoebox apartment, hair wild, tits practically in danger.
She met her best friend Remy at the local coffee shop next to Creams Tower.
“You’re late and possibly deranged,” her best friend Remy said cheerfully.
“I’m not deranged,” Maddison muttered, “I’m passionate.”
“You got fired last month for kicking your boss in the dick.”
“He groped me.”
“I support you. Just also… deranged.”
“Justice is never on time,” Maddison snapped, grabbing her handbag and keys.
“Also, the dress code said corporate chic. This is chic.”
“It’s painted on animal print and four inch heels.”
“It’s who I am.”
Remy sighed dramatically. “You know I love you, but sometimes I wonder if this
whole‘bad bitch with unresolved rage issues and a lust for anonymous men online’
thing is the best plan.”
“I do not have unresolved rage issues.”
“Helmetdaddy_xo.”
Maddison paused in the doorway.
“…That’s different.”
“You’re in love with a faceless thirst trap account who never even shows his whole face.”
“He shows enough. The jawline, the hands, the shoulders. That man is sending messages.”
“To all of his followers, babe.”
“No,” Maddison whispered with a dreamy little smile as she descended the stairs of her building. “To me.”
She was twenty minutes late, sweating through her Spanx, and barely hanging on to
her nerves. She hadn’t had a real relationship in three years. Her last Tinder date ghosted her after she sent an unfiltered photo. She was loud, opinionated, size 20, and built like a goddess with vengeance in her veins. Men didn’t usually stick around. But she did have one man, kind of.
Helmetdaddy_xo.
Her secret little obsession.
The only one who made her feel seen, wanted, teased.
