Glossary Of Terms

Anwyvn —A land shared by mortals and fae.

Aurea Tree —A mythical golden tree at the heart of Seahaven’s Starlight Wood.

Avian Strait —A narrow pass through the Cimmerian Mountains, the only known route into the Northlands and the site of many bloody battles.

Caeldera —The capital of Dyved; a city contained entirely within a dormant volcanic crater.

Cull —The uprising of mortal men against the fae race two hundred years ago.

culling priests —Holy men who hate the fae and preach on the need for blood purification in Anwyvn. Many claim to be descendants of the original priests who slew the emperor and his family.

cyntroedi —A variety of giant centipede, white in color, with toxic green venom, found in dark underground areas.

Dyved —A Northlands kingdom occupying the plateau in the northwestern corner of Anwyvn, beyond the Cimmerian Mountains.

Ember Guild —A unit of highly trained warriors who answer directly to Prince Pendefyre of Dyved.

fyre priestess —A member of a sect of holy women pledged to honor the God of Flame.

Fyremas —A Dyvedi holiday widely celebrated to mark the start of spring.

fyrewisps —A low class of fae, also known as will-o’-the-wisps or ghost lights, often seen floating in bogs or forests by travelers at night.

halfling —A human-fae hybrid from both bloodlines, typically powerless, only discernible from humankind by their pointed ears.

Hylios —The capital city of Ll?r.

ice giant —A legendary hoarfrost monster found mainly in the Frostlands and the Cimmerian Mountains.

leylines —A network of maegical threads deep in the earth that knit together the fabric of the realm.

Ll?r —A Northlands kingdom spanning the northeastern corner of Anwyvn, notoriously ruled by the bloodthirsty King Soren.

nymph —Slang for a fae with water powers.

Paexyri —Mythical mounts once ridden by fae in the time of maegic, said to run with twice the speed and stamina of a normal horse.

point —A derogatory term for fae kind.

portal —A maegical gateway in a place of power, allowing for instantaneous travel across the leylines of the land.

Red Chasm —A deep deposit of iron ore running through the Midlands.

Remnant —One of four reincarnated vestiges of elemental power.

Starlight Wood —A forest of ancient trees on the western shore of Seahaven, long rumored to be a place of great fae power.

sylph —Slang for a fae with air powers.

tetrad —The four Remnants.

Thawe Bridge —A rope suspension bridge at the southern foot of the Cimmerian Mountains, connecting the Northlands to the Midlands.

twyllo —A game of cards and wagers popular in the Northlands.
