MACK

G oddamn it.

Not for a second did he think Ella would faint. Given what she’d been through the past few days, it was extremely unfair of him to suddenly shift into a damn wolf in front of her.

Hindsight and all that.

Why hadn’t he just kept it under wraps until they knew the fate of their lives?

Because she’s my mate and can feel my wolf.

Yeah. That.

“Well, that went well.” Callan crossed his arms, nodding at the two of them on the ground.

“Yup.” Kurt nodded. “She looks super happy.”

Mack shifted back into his vampire form.

“Helpful.” He growled and lifted Ella into his arms, then stalked toward the mansion.

“Hey, Romeo.” Kurt called out. “How about putting on some pants? My mate is in there and I’d hate to have to rip your head off if she gets a glimpse of your Jackson.”

Pants.

Right.

Next minute they came flying at his head.

Callan laughed and stopped beside him. “Let me take her.”

Mack let out a deep growl.

Correction, his wolf growled.

“Newly mated. Keep your distance,” Kurt said, striding past them into the house. “Pants, Mack. Pants.”

Reluctantly, he handed Ella off to Callan and pulled on his sweatpants.

“You know, you could’ve tried talking more. Explaining more about what she would see instead of like, here’s my tail and teeth.” Callan shrugged.

He was starting to think Ben might’ve been a better wingman. And that was saying something.

“Or I could’ve not been bitten in the first goddamn place.” Mack snapped, pulling open the door and stepping inside. Regret hit him square in the chest the moment the words left his lips.

Mack turned.

Callan locked the door behind them.

“I didn’t mean that.”

“You did.” Callan smiled sadly. “None of us chose this. But do you really hate it that much?”

Mack nestled Ella against his chest and glanced down at her. “What if she leaves me?”

“Remember how angry Virginia was when she arrived in Greenwood?” Callan smirked.

How could any of them forget—she was a nightmare.

Mack let out a small laugh. “So what? Love overcomes everything?”

He didn’t believe that.

People could love you and not stay with you.

“No. Communication. Talk to her, Mack. From what I’ve observed, Ella is a smart female. She needs to understand—”

“She thinks she’ll turn into one.”

It had been his concern until speaking with Kurt, but Mack was right, he’d gone and shifted instead of telling her everything.

Dumb.

Still, none of them knew enough about the wolves to know if the mating bond had the same implications with hybrids as it did vampires.

Ella could leave him if she turned into a wolf and that would kill them both. Didn’t she understand?

“I’ve spoken to Sage about this. She thinks I’m the sole gene carrier. Which means, unless I bite your pretty mate, she will be fine.” Callan glanced at Ella and, without thinking, Mack moved.

“Fangs away from my girl.”

“She’s going to wake in a minute. Take her to your room and talk, Mack. Words.”

Blah, blah.

He’d rather show her how he felt about her.

With his cock.

But the hybrid was right.

T HE MOMENT HE placed Ella on the bed she began to stir. Mack lay down beside her and tugged the blanket up. Then he rested his hand on her hip.

Blinking awake, she stared at him and a smile appeared on her lips. He figured she had momentarily forgotten what had just happened. So, he took a moment to take in her gorgeous features.

How had he waited so long?

What a fool.

“How are you feeling?” Mack asked, and her smile faded as she shuffled away from him and up the wall.

Shit.

“Woah, stop, Ella.” Mack held up his hands.

“Stay back. What the hell was that...wolfy stuff? It was a costume, right? Tell me it wasn’t real. Mack. Tell me!”

Um, nope.

Climbing to his knees, Mack kept his hands up to show he wouldn’t harm her, then lowered his ass. He was huge compared to her and doubted she felt safe with him looming over her.

Maybe talking was a good idea.

Mack gave her time to calm down and see he was the same vampire she’d known all her life. Her mate. The boy who fixed her bike.

“It’s still me.” His voice was soft but rough. “Are you okay?

“No.”

He nodded, not taking his eyes off her.

“Was that real?” she asked, gripping a blanket and tugging it to her chest.

“Yes.” He placed his hands on his thighs as his quads burned from the uncomfortable position. But he’d stay here as long as it took.

“Will I change? Into a wolf?”

Mack shook his head, hoping he was telling her the truth, for both their sakes. “No. Sage thinks Callan is the only one capable of infecting vampires. Kurt didn’t—”

“What? Madison’s a wolf?!” Ella cried.

Oh yeah, about that.

He had so much to tell her.

“She’s a hybrid like me. Well, except Callan isn’t her alpha. Madison rejected him when she bonded with Kurt. The dominant fucker.”

She blinked.

“Anyway, that’s another topic. The point is, he never changed, so we don’t think you will,” Mack said and moved so his legs stopped burning.

“Think?” Ella hissed, then moved so fast, pushing his chest. “You bit me without permission, knowing you might change me into a whole other fucking species?”

They both went falling onto their sides, Mack catching her and tugging her against him.

“El, baby. Stop. You’re my mate and we might not fucking be here tomorrow.” He growled before he could stop himself.

Oops.

She froze.

“What?”

“I love you,” Mack said, taking her chin. “I won’t hurt you. I never could. You’re a part of me. I am in full control of my wolf. I promise.”

He realized he was throwing everything at her quickly, but they didn’t have time. Mack might not know all the details, but he knew the clock was ticking.

Brown eyes roamed his face, her leg pressing between his and he’d bet every dollar he had she wasn’t aware she’d done it.

“What if—”

“Nope.”

“You don’t even know what I was going to ask.” Ella frowned.

“None of it matters. I promise this moment is all that matters. I’m not going to apologize for making you mine.” Mack took a risk and nipped at her lips. “Fucking your sweet pussy is not something I will ever wait another second to do.”

Ella lifted her hand and ran her fingers over his unshaven jaw, and then around the outline of his lips.

“It’s me.”

“I know,” she whispered.

“Do you still love me?” he asked, hating that he sounded so insecure.

Ella flinched. “Yes. I’m angry, but of course I love you.”

Thank fuck.

His hand slid over her hip, and he saw the flicker in her eyes. Continuing its journey, he pressed on her thigh and tugged it over his leg. Then pressed his now hard cock against her covered sex.

A little moan escaped her.

“Show me,” Mack rasped.

Need lined her face as Ella arched her neck in welcome of his touch.

Mack moved fast. He had both their clothes off and was back on top of her in seconds. Then grinned at her wide, desire-filled eyes.

“Legs on my shoulders.” He growled, taking an ankle and kissing it when she obeyed.

Wanting another taste of her before sinking inside, Mack leaned down and ran his tongue through her already soaking flesh.

Mine.

Every inch of her would always be his.

He plunged two fingers inside and watched her reaction, crying out as her body clenched around them.

“Mack.”

He smiled.

She needed his cock.

Grabbing his weeping shaft, Mack adjusted his knees and pressed it against her entrance. Leaning forward with her legs over his shoulders, Ella opened fully for him, and he nudged inside.

“Oh, God.” She drew in a breath. “You’re so big. I’ll never adjust.”

“You will. You were made me for me.” Mack thrust in a little more. “So tight and hot. The perfect pussy.”

Ella reached for him, and he lowered, claiming her mouth, feeling their bond flare to life as they connected on a level no other creatures in the world did.

His body shuddered as they both passionately licked and clawed at one another while he slammed in and out. If he could have gone deeper, he would have.

Mack knew he’d never be satisfied, always wanting more of his mate. There was so much more to explore and ways to please her. Was there time?

Flipping her over, Mack lifted her middle.

“Grab the pillow and stay on your knees.” He rumbled, pressing inside her once more. It wasn’t as if he’d seen Ella as a friend or sibling all his life but seeing her in this position had his wolf roaring.

Mine.

Ours.

Devour.

On that, he agreed with his wolf. He would devour every inch of her.

“Mack, harder. Please.”

He loved hearing her beg.

“Come for me, Ella.” He demanded, pressing his finger over the sensitive hole at her rear.

“Oh, shit!” she cried, and as she tumbled over the edge and shuddered around his cock, Mack threw his head back and felt the fire rocket through his body.

What would their child become?

A vampire or little wolf?

There were so many questions, but they would walk this path together.

As they collapsed onto the sheets, Mack pulled her into his arms and let them catch their breath. Ella was flushed with red patches all over from her orgasm. His chest swelled proudly.

“Approximately how long will you be angry for?” He smirked. “Because if that’s angry sex, I might be okay with it.”

“Feed me and I might start to forgive you.”

“I just gave you an orgasm.” He patted her ass cheekily.

He already wanted more of her. After feeding her, they were coming straight back here. Fuck the end of the world. All he wanted was to be inside her if it happened.

“It’s a process, Mack. You can’t rush it.” Ella kissed his nose.

He liked how playful she was.

“Okay.” He climbed off the bed and pulled her to her feet.

Tiptoeing, Ella wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him like he was the most important thing in her world.

She was his.

Whatever the future held for all of them, Ella would be right beside him until the end.

“Let’s get some food into this gorgeous body and tell the world you belong to me.”

“You’re mine too.”

“I am, baby.”
