Marek.
My mate. Mine. His voice echoed deeply within her, like he’d always been there as a part of her.
Had she really heard him in her mind?
Yes.His unquenched lust and love and amazement engulfed her. We’re bonded. Do you see it?
Something glimmered within her. A thick, swirling rope of light, in her heart, in her soul, reaching into the darkness, reaching toward…
Marek. He was at the other end.
The mating bond.
Reverence filled her. Emotions not her own swamped her. His undying love and utter devotion. His unrelenting strength and determination. His sense of completeness. Of unfulfilled need.
The outside world returned when he flipped her over and lifted her with an arm under her stomach. She was on all fours, facing the headboard, before he thrust into her.
A shocked gasp rushed out of her. Shock from being moved. From being filled, and from how everything suddenly felt so much more intense. More pleasurable. Her every nerve ending stood on edge, his every touch set her on fire.
The mating bond. His vampire senses passed through to her, electrifying everything.
It was unlike anything she’d ever experienced or imagined. She was greedy for it. For him. The depth of his hunger only made her insides clench harder.
She moaned when he pulled out before plunging back in again. Deep. God, he was so deep from this angle.
The heat of his chest fanned across her back. His hot breath fluttered over her ears, and she shivered when his teeth scraped the back of her neck. “I need to taste you again,” he whispered darkly. “I don’t know what I like more. The taste of your blood or how your pussy is so greedy for my cock.”
To punctuate his words, he pumped in and out of her; this time her hips reached back for more when he slid out.
“Good thing you can have both,” she gasped and kissed him with mindless desperation.
A grunt of agreement before he picked up the pace. The pleasure had been devastating before. Now, with the mating bond, with his feelings tangled with her own, Olivia wasn’t sure she could survive.
He chuckled. “Oh, you’ll survive.”
Her instincts took the reins, her hips meeting him thrust for thrust. They were slaves to their desires, their bodies moving in sync, lost to a timeless dance. Through the mating bond, she sensed him getting closer and closer to his climax.
“Fuck, Olivia, I—” He didn’t finish his sentence as he sank his fangs into her neck. Pain. Then waves and waves of ecstasy. From him to her. Stars flashed behind her eyes, and she followed him into sensual oblivion.
Chapter Twenty-Five
“Whatdoyoumean, months?” Olivia asked, unable to hide her frustration.
“Exactly what I said. This here,” Andrea pointed to the ingredient on the tablet. “Gorgon’s eyes. It refers to a flower along the Greek coast, which only blooms twice a year. We just missed its last bloom, so we’ll have to wait a few months before we can perform the spell.”
“We can’t wait that long!” Olivia jumped to her feet and slammed her hands on the table. Two days had passed since Betsy almost died. Two wonderful days of being mated to Marek. She couldn’t ever recall being so happy and complete, yet guilt overshadowed her joy. “Can we perform the spell without it?”
“You can’t just remove ingredients willy-nilly,” Andrea said in a deadpan tone. “Who knows what might happen? You might end up dead, lose a limb, or be sucked into another dimension, or—”
“Okay. Fine. I get it.” Olivia cut off Andrea, not needing the list of terrible possibilities. “I don’t know if Betsy has months.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
Olivia sighed and sank back into her chair, shoulders drooping in defeat. “Is there anything else we can do?”
“Give me some time to think. I’ll see if I can come up with anything,” Andrea said after a short pause.
In the back of her mind, Marek’s presence stirred, a mix of anger and alarm and worry that made her heart skip a beat.
