Duchess Ophele of Andelin: (oh-FELL ANN-deh-linn) Her Grace, the Duchess of Andelin, and Princess of Argence. Daughter of the Divine Emperor and colloquially known as the Exile Princess.

Duke Remin of Andelin: (REH-minn of ANN-deh-linn) His Grace, the Duke of Andelin. The son of traitors and despised enemy of the Divine Emperor, he is sometimes called Remin Grimjaw.

Sir Auber Conbour: (AW-bur CONN-boor) A farmer’s son that joined Remin’s army at its mustering by the Gresein. Volunteered for the charge over the bridge and was subsequently knighted. Has charge of Remin’s farmlands.

Sir Bertin of Loure: (bur-TAN of LOOR) One of the young knights who came of age after the war’s end, he competed in the joust at the tourney.

Sir Bram of Lisle: (brAHM of LILE) Former mercenary who served Duke Ereguil for various activities before the war, and volunteered for the Charge of the Gresein. Assists Tounot with the Tresingale garrison, as well as other sensitive activities.

Sir Darrigault of Ghis: (DARE-reh-goht of GHEES) The Subtle Blade. One of Remin’s knights who is frequently trusted with tricky or clandestine work.

Sir Huber Adaman: (HUE-bur ADD-uh-man) A knight from a long line of knights in Ereguil and childhood friend of Remin. Master of Remin’s scouts.

Sir Jinmin of Oskerre: (JIN-minn of OH-scare) Originally from Norgrede, he switched loyalties to Remin during the war. The only knight capable of posing a physical challenge to Remin.

Sir Justenin of Tresingale: (JUST-enn-inn of TRESS-in-gale) The son of one of Remin’s father’s retainers, unnamed for his own safety. Master of Beasts and counselor for Remin and his men.

Sir Lucan of Versigne: (loo-KAN of VER-seen) Guard of Ange sworn to Crown Princess Selenne and loyal only to her.

Sir Miche of Harnost: (MEESH of HAR-nohst) Remin’s long-time bodyguard and friend, who was assigned to him exclusively when Remin was ten. Master of Digging and manager of Remin.

Sir Ortaire Berange: (orr-TARE beh-RAHNJ) One of the young knights who came of age after the war’s end, he went with Huber to Ferrede and then to Meinhem to retrieve any surviving villagers.

Squire Rollon of Hollisey: (ROH-lone of HALL-iss-see) Son of an Ereguil lord and squire to Sir Huber Adaman, he went to the relief of Ferrede and successfully protected the village from the devils for a whole summer. Remin raised him to a knighthood after he returned, and he promptly volunteered to go to Nandre and bring back any survivors.

Sir Tounot of Belleme: (TOO-noh of bell-EMME) First son of the Earl of Irenvale, estranged after his father’s repudiation of Remin. Commands the Tresingale garrison as well as the unauthorized visitors camped on the south side of the Brede.
