Page 100 of The Sun and the Moon

Their anniversary is coming this week, and it’s technically ours, too, a fact they both seem to enjoy. But we have a plan to change that with a booking at a hotel in Vegas in a month. We haven’t told them just yet, but we have a plan for that, too.

A new little scheme we came up with.

Moira’s eyes settle on the lapping water; her smile twitches. “Satisfied.”

Safe, I think.

“Everything is just as it should be.”

Her words prick a soft spot inside me, dragging forward a question I’ve had since the very first time I met Cadence. I’ve been too afraid to ask, unsure if I wanted an answer, and then sure that even though I did, she wasn’t likely to give one. She probably won’t now.

“Did you know before you sent that invitation that she and I were soulmates?”

The twinkle in her eyes is all the answer Ineed.
