During the summer, we were going to take a family trip to London, and then we would take him and drop him off at the school.

"Look at him," I said. "He is so grown up!"

"I know," Josh said, wiping away a tear. "I can’t believe how fast time has gone by."

"He is going to thrive at Cambridge," I said.

"He will," Josh agreed. "I am so proud of him. I think it is great that he wants to be a lawyer."

I nodded in agreement. Rylan had spent a lot of time with Josh, learning about all the different aspects of the business. He had also spent time helping me with the B&B, and what he was always drawn to was the work we did with different lawyers. Neither of us was surprised when he said he wanted to study law.

I knew he would do very well in that profession. He was very intelligent, hard-working, and had a strong sense of justice. I reached out and took Josh’s hand as we waited for them to call Rylan’s name.

"You did such a wonderful job raising him," I said.

"Thank you," Josh whispered.

"I don’t want you to sell yourself short," I said. "What you did was remarkable. You were only 27 years old, and you took him in. You did right by him. I admire you so much for what you have done, and I am so proud of you."

"I love you," Josh said, leaning over and gently kissing me on the top of my head. "You always know just what to say, and I appreciate you so much."

"I love you, too," I said. Josh leaned down and whispered to my stomach. "And I love you, too, little one. I can’t wait to meet you."

As Rylan’s name was called, we stood up and cheered, our voices joining the chorus of applause that filled the gym. I watched as he walked across the stage, accepting his diploma with a confident smile. My heart swelled with pride and joy, knowing that this was just the beginning of his incredible journey.

Our family had come so far, and I couldn't wait to see what the future held for all of us.
