My lips curl into a smirk. “Did you just make a sex joke?”
She hums, feigning innocence. “Might have.” She leans in, the smell of her sweet perfume hitting me square in the chest, making it even harder to keep my distance. “Did it turn you on?”
Thinking about her pretty pink, glossy lips wrapped around my cock? Hell. Fucking. Yes.
I swallow hard and shake my head, losing every inch of control I have. “Don’t look at me like that unless you want to be pinned up against the wall,” I warn her.
She smirks, not backing down, and leans in just a little closer. “Maybe that’s exactly what I want.”
I’m fucked. Her words, the look in her eyes…
it's all too much. I rub my hand over my face and take a step back, rational thinking making a rare reappearance. Nathan. My best friend. His sister. Fuck. I shake my head, forcing a chuckle. “I shouldn’t have said that. I’m not the guy for the job,” I mutter, hoping she hears the strain in my voice.
She sighs, taking a sip of her drink, her tongue darting out to catch a drop of alcohol that spills past her lips.
And suddenly, all I can think about is tasting it for her. Leaning forward, cupping her face, running my tongue over those plump lips and finding out if she tastes as sweet as she smells.
She glances at me, and my hazy, heavy-lidded eyes snap open.
“You got any friends you think I’d be into?”
Something flares in my chest, my temper rising. I scoff, unable to keep the bitterness out of my voice. Is she really asking me to pimp her out to my friends? “Yeah, that’s not happening.”
Her brow arches, daring me. “Why not?”
The muscles in my jaw tighten, ready to fucking pop. “I kinda like them. I don’t want to have to knock them out every time I think about them touching you.”
She laughs, her shoulders shaking with the sound, and damn, it only makes me want to kiss her even more. “Alright. Not your friends.” She eyes the crowd, her gaze flitting to the guy across the bar. “How about that guy? Think I’m his type?”
I don’t know how anyone could look at her and not want her. Not want to know every curve, every inch of her body. But I turn my head anyway, my eyes sliding over to the booth where the guy she’s talking about sits, drinking a beer and shoveling peanuts in his mouth as he talks to some girl.
“I think he’s preoccupied.” And not fucking good enough for you.
I can’t stop the irritation that tightens my chest. The thought of her going home with someone else tonight, some random guy, getting hot and sweaty with him, makes me want to punch something.
Hell, preferably myself for being too much of a fucking idiot to step up and give her the rebound she wants. I should be the one doing this for her.
But I made a promise to my friend. To her brother. And I keep my damn promises. I’m a big boy. I can handle being told I’m not allowed to have something.
I think.
She sighs, her shoulders deflating like she’s given up. “Then what about him?” She points at a guy playing darts, laughing with his buddies, his eyes glazed over.
I shake my head. “Yeah, no. He’s drunk.”
She raises her drink, a mischievous glint in her eye. “I’m getting there, too.”
I give her a dry look. “You really want to go home with a drunk stranger drooling all over you, unable to even get it up from the alcohol?”
She screws up her face in distaste. “I guess you’re right.”
“I know I’m right.” My gaze locks with hers. “I don’t know why you’re looking for a rebound, but I know you don’t want some quick fuck who you won’t even remember the next day.”
She doesn’t say anything, but the way she bites her bottom lip lets me know I hit the mark.
“You want someone who’ll kiss you like he’s desperate for it,” I lean closer. “You want someone who’ll worship your body, make you the center of their attention. Make you scream their name. Take you to a different fucking dimension.”
Her breath hitches, and those pink lips part in surprise. My eyes drop to them like a moth to a flame, drawn to them without the ability to look away. Fuck .
“I’m gonna head home.”
We break apart at the speed of lightning when I hear Nathan’s voice behind me as he approaches the bar.
I quickly sit back on the stool, grabbing my beer and taking a sip, avoiding Isabella’s eyes as Nathan slaps me on the back.
“I’m tired of those dickheads, and I need to be up early for one-on-one training with my dad.” He groans, shaking his head. “You good here?” he asks his sister.
She rolls her eyes slightly. “I told you; you don’t need to babysit me. I’ll be fine.”
Nathan nods, his eyes flicking to me. “Keep an eye on her for me, will you?” He presses his lips together in a smile.
I swallow the huge rock lodged in my throat as I nod, and he turns around, pushing open the door.
I’m such an asshole.
Nathan trusts me enough to look after his sister, and here I am fantasizing about all the different positions I could put her in.
I can’t fuck up his trust. No matter how much I want to. And god , do I want to.
I glance at Isabella, and the same look in my eyes is mirrored in hers. She sighs, shifting her body to face the bar. “I need a drink.”
Yeah, me fucking too.
