“Hmm.” Ant nodded at the waitress, who escorted them to their table. Once they were seated and the menus had been left for them, Viktor felt Ant’s shoe resting against his own. “I was thinking we could have an early night tonight, but if you’d rather go looking for spirits, we could always do a sweep of the museum. They’re regular clients as well, and they definitely don’t have squirrels.”
Pulling out his phone, Viktor quickly scrolled through the list of cases Bridget had sent to him. Stopping at the museum entry, he frowned. “Moved exhibits, the sound of screaming in the records room, and cold drafts in one of the exhibit halls. Would that actually be spirits?”
“It could be spirits, a cursed object, perhaps someone human or paranormal is actually squatting in the museum or…I don’t know. That’s what makes this one interesting.”
Putting his phone away, Viktor studied his mate. Stunning, intelligent, and with a subtle humor, few people realized. All that and sexy, too. In other words, the perfect mate for a curious vampire.
“You know,” he said, leaning across the table and taking Ant’s hand, keeping his voice low. “The great thing about being avampire is that I can move fast. We could check out the museum, and I can still take you home after that and make love to your sexy body until morning. How does that sound?”
“It sounds like the perfect way to spend an evening with my mate.” Ant’s eyes gleamed. “But then every evening with you is perfect.”
“Careful, babe.” Viktor chuckled. “You’re in danger of showing your feelings.” But then, because it was true, he added, “Anytime is a perfect time to be with you, too.”
The End…or is it?
