"Make sure she gets breakfast," Murphy says as I stand. "She needs to eat regularly, and she's terrible about making healthy choices."

"That she is," Luke agrees, laughing. "She's gonna be anxious. Do your best to reassure her. I tried before I left, but I had to leave to get down here."

"I'm the charming one," I remind him as I fidget with my vest. Something about Everly knocks me off my game.

"Vegetables," Murphy says, jabbing a meaty finger at my chest. "And protein."

"I've got it," I say with a snort.

"Let her know I'd like to take her on a date tonight," Murphy reminds me. Looking to Luke, he continues, "That's the only reason why you're alive. You asshole."

Luke laughs, and I give them both the middle finger before heading out. I'm several steps outside the door before realityreallysets in.

Everly had her birth control implant removed, and she's on the verge of her heat. We could have her big and round withourbaby within a year. There's a spring in my step as I head for the stairs.

I spend several minutes knocking on Everly's door before I realize she's likely in Luke's suite. That fucker could've given me some warning.

My fist lands against Luke's door, and Evie opens it almost immediately.

My nose twitches as I breathe in her sweet, apple pie scent. My cock literally throbs in response, and I swallow thickly.

"H-Hey," she stammers. My eyes meet hers, and my heart sinks. She looks truly terrified.

"Oh, lass," I murmur. "You need a cuddle. You've been up here worrying yourself sick, haven't you?"

I guide her over to the sofa and take a seat. "Come on," I say, patting my chest similarly to how Murphy did the other night. Everly bites her lip. "You'll hurt my feelings. I'm starting to think you don't like me at all." My accent rolls through my words, making them run together.

The caveman can get away with anything and she thinks it's cute.Yes, I'm pouting.

Everly scrambles into my lap, and I let out a breath of relief.

"Murphy made it clear I'm to force several vegetables and proteins into you with breakfast," I say, running a hand over the back of her head.

Everly squeaks. She shoves her nose against my throat. It's incredibly endearing. "Did you decide to let me stay?"

"There was never any doubt," I assure her.

"I'm so sorry. My impulses demanded something of me that went against my character and… I know that's no excuse."

"Everly," I murmur, running a hand over her back. "No more of that, darling. We run a sanctuary for omegas. You'd be surprised at the things we've come across over the years."

Nothing quite as dramatic as this, but legally speaking neither the lodge nor The Exchange could've been held responsible.

Although, as an omega, her natural urges would be to please her alphas. I'm sure she's been very uncomfortable for her entire stay.

"I trusted Luke when he said you wouldn't kick me out, but…"

"But you barely know him," I finish for her. "I've set up something for us to do. Or we can simply stay in today, order food, and hunker down. It's completely up to you."

Everly tilts her head so she can see my eyes. "I'm good with whatever you want to do. I can hang around my room if you've got work you need to get done."

I scoff. "Eileen basically runs this place. She's more than capable of handling things for a few days, or even weeks if it came to that. She heard there's a particular omega who's tickled our fancy, and she practically demanded I be here to court you properly."

"Are you sure?" Evie whispers. She's staring across the room and refusing to meet my eyes. "I don't want you to court me out of pity."

"None of that," I bark, and my hand lands on her ass. Everly jolts. "One day soon you'll have no doubt about how much we want you. That includes Luke. He went head to head with Murphy this morning. He wouldn't say a word until we assured him he'd be allowed to stay with you. I think you'll find we're all drawn to you on some deep baser level. Do you feel the same?"

Everly's hand lands on my chest. She begins to rub away the light ache that comes when I think that she might not feel the same.
