Gu Lao Er (Second Uncle Gu) was instantly stunned. At this moment, he could feel goosebumps rising all over his body.
Someone really wanted to harm him! What kind of deep-seated hatred could this be?
After all, the airport was filled with security and police officers everywhere. Any suspicious movement would immediately draw attention, and the lightest consequence would be detention. In more serious cases, armed police could even shoot the perpetrator on the spot.
Unless it was a life-or-death vendetta, no one would take such a reckless risk.
Just then, a soft, childish voice came through his earpiece, instantly pulling Gu Lao Er back to reality.
"Second Uncle, it's the man in red on your left. Don't confront him directly. He probably has a weapon."
Yao Yao (the little girl) spoke seriously, her tone filled with concern. The thick cloud of blood aura around Second Uncle indicated a high probability of death.
Given that the two men were similar in build, the only way the red-clad man could pose such a threat was if he was armed.
Hearing this, Gu Lao Er's confusion deepened. How could someone bring a weapon into the airport?
However, he took a deep breath and quickly calmed himself. At that moment, two armed police officers walked by. Pretending to ask for directions, Gu Lao Er approached them and, as they passed, quickly explained the situation.
The two officers were initially stunned but, after verifying the information, they headed toward the man in red.
Clearly, they were going to investigate.
Gu Lao Er's breathing tightened. Until now, he had no evidence—everything relied on the guidance and identification of his niece, Yao Yao.
Under normal circumstances, he would have dismissed this as nonsense. But here he was, acting on the words of a child.
If the police found nothing, he could be arrested for defamation.
Naturally, he was nervous.
However, compared to him, the man in red was even more restless.
Especially after seeing Gu Lao Er speak to the police and then the officers heading his way, he instantly realized his plan had been exposed.
In the next moment, Gu Lao Er watched as the man, who had been sitting calmly, stood up as if nothing was wrong.
Then, like a madman, he bolted toward the exit.
The sudden commotion caught the attention of the two police officers. They exchanged a glance, realizing something was seriously wrong, and immediately gave chase, shouting for backup.
The airport was swarming with security personnel. With the call for assistance, dozens of officers converged from all directions. The man in red didn't even have a chance to fight back before he was subdued.
A quick search revealed a weapon on him. With the evidence in hand, there was no need for further questioning.
"It's true! This... this is unbelievable!"
Gu Lao Er had been watching the entire scene unfold. He stared at the video call with the little girl as if she were some kind of monster.
He couldn't wrap his head around how she had figured it out.
The police also found the man's plane ticket, which happened to be for the same flight as Gu Lao Er's. Since the man had passed security, he could have boarded the plane without issue.
If the situation hadn't been discovered in time, and if the man had caused trouble mid-flight, the consequences could have been catastrophic—potentially leading to a plane crash and the death of everyone on board.
The thought sent a cold sweat down Gu Lao Er's back.
As the man in red was apprehended, Yao Yao saw the blood aura surrounding her Second Uncle slowly dissipate, indicating that his calamity had been averted.
"It's okay now, Second Uncle. You can board your flight," Yao Yao said with a smile, her chubby little face beaming.
The tension in Gu Lao Er's parents, Grandma Gu and Grandpa Gu, finally eased.
"Xueming (Gu Lao Er's name), you must thank Yao Yao properly this time. If it weren't for her, something terrible might have happened," Grandma Gu said, her face pale with fear.
Her son was so far away. If something had happened, by the time they found out, it would have been too late.
"Thank you, Yao Yao. When Second Uncle comes back, whatever you want, I'll get it for you," Gu Lao Er said, forcing a smile as he tried to shake off the lingering fear.
Yao Yao, holding Grandma Gu's hand, shook her little head and said, "Second Uncle, you don't need to thank me. We're family. My master said, family doesn't need to say thank you!"
Her words made Grandma Gu laugh heartily, and Gu Lao Er's affection for his niece, whom he had only met through a video call, soared.
Just then, the boarding announcement echoed through the airport, forcing Gu Lao Er to end the call.
The police also took his contact information, promising to follow up once the investigation was complete. As the victim, he deserved an explanation.
...
Grandma Gu stared at the darkened screen of her phone, silent for a long moment. She couldn't bear to imagine what might have happened if Gu Lao Er hadn't made that call, or if Yao Yao hadn't coincidentally appeared in the video.
It was likely that, in the next few days, she would have received news of her son's severe injury—or even death.
Losing a child in old age, having to bury one's own child—these were things she could hardly bear.
At this moment, Grandma Gu couldn't help but tightly hug her little granddaughter. She didn't know what to say, so she kept repeating, "Thank you."
Yao Yao was a bit flustered. She didn't understand why Grandma kept thanking her. Not knowing how to comfort her, she could only hug her back with her small hands.
In her soft, childish voice, she said, "Grandma, don't be sad. Yao Yao is very strong. I'll protect all of you."
"If any bad guys come, I can knock them all down with one punch!"
As she spoke, she clenched her little fist, demonstrating her determination.
Yao Yao cherished the Gu family deeply. They all doted on her—her parents, her seven brothers, and now her grandparents and soon-to-return Second Uncle.
So many people loved her, something she had never experienced on the mountain. She loved every member of the Gu family, so she would eat well and train hard to protect them.
Yao Yao could feel that since coming down the mountain and eating more, her cultivation and strength had grown significantly, even surpassing her progress on the mountain.
Grandma Gu had no idea that her little granddaughter's thoughts revolved so much around food.
Hearing the child's earnest promise, Grandma Gu's face lit up with joy.
This little granddaughter, whom she had "picked up" so unexpectedly, now held an irreplaceable place in her heart. Even her biological grandsons couldn't compare.
And Grandma Gu's personality was straightforward—if she adored someone, she wouldn't hesitate to shower them with treasures and gifts.
The next day, the entire Gu family was stunned by the mountain of presents that arrived.
Grandma Gu's generosity knew no bounds.
