“No, no,” Cighyss said, reaching for their hands, “there’s no begging or pleading or any of that. You wish to be accepted while loving each other? Then our acceptance is yours.” Hehelped them stand and popped them on their shoulders, making them bump into each other.

Both men clearly thought there would be more required of them as they blinked at each other and Cighyss. Then Solomon began to grin, and the marquis joined him. A moment later, they were laughing and clasping each other before sharing a smacking kiss.

Everyone around them cheered, myself included.

Leaning close to Cighyss, I whispered, “And what about the part where they have to accept you?”

“Oh, they don’thaveto. No onehasto. But a long, healthy life does provide quite the temptation.” He smirked and flicked his tongue out at me. “And I’m really rather talented as well.”

I couldn’t deny that and laughingly kissed him before we led our newest citizens inside the mountain.
