I pull Chloe into my arms as the music starts.
My wife.
It was going to take some getting used to.
I couldn’t believe she was mine now—mine to protect, mine to care for.
I was going to spend the rest of my life making sure she was happy.
As her soft body aligned with my hard one, I resisted the urge to pull her closer and kiss her the way I really wanted to.
I was trying to keep things G-rated with Grandma May and my mom sitting right there.
But with her perfect curves pressed up against me, it was more than difficult.
I was trying to be in the moment, but I wanted nothing more than to take her home and show her just how much she meant to me.
When the song begins to come to a close, she looks up at me with those gorgeous chocolate brown eyes.
“I love you so much.”
My heart tugs hard in my chest, and I fight the emotion in my chest.
“I love you too.” I lower my head and touch her lips just briefly, not trusting myself to not get carried away.
I fight not to lose myself in her.
“Can we go home now?” I ask against her ear, so nobody else can hear.
She pulls back, and her eyes are dancing.
“Let’s go, Big C.”
My blood pumps faster.
I love it when she calls me that.
I release her hand, so she can say goodbye to Grandma May.
I turn to my mom and brother.
“Thanks for coming.”
Greyson smirks.
“As if Mom would let me miss it.”
“Greyson,” my mom says sharply.
She turns to me with a teary smile.
“I’m so happy for you.”
I wrap my arms around her.
“Thanks, Mom. I love you.”
“Oh, Gunner, I love you so much. I’m so proud of you.” She pulls back and stares up at me.
“I am so proud of the man you have become.”
“Thanks, Mom.” I give her a kiss on the cheek and clap my brother on the back before heading over to my girl.
I get there just in time to hear Grandma May say, “...teach that boy a thing or two in bed.” I chuckle at her words, especially when I hear Chloe’s response.
Not being able to stay away from her for one more minute, I put my hand on her lower back and lean forward.
“I think she has the right idea,” I say in a low voice next to her ear.
I’m rewarded with a full body shiver, and I can’t wait to see how else she responds to me.
My girl turns to me and gives me that beautiful smile of hers.
“I do too, Husband.” It takes me a moment to even remember what she’s referring to.
Hearing her call me husband does something to me.
I take hold of her hand and start quickly in the direction of my truck.
I need to get us home and get my hands on her.
“No taking off any clothes until you get home,” Grandma May calls out behind us.
I chuckle as Chloe calls out, “Goodbye, we love you all.” I do my best not to touch her more than I need to.
I’m hanging on by a thin thread here, and I want to get us home.
I help her into the front seat of my truck.
Just as I’m about to close the door, she stops me.
“How fast does this thing go?”
My blood heats, and I feel my lips curve up into a smile.
“Really fast.” I close her door and jog to my side.
Once I close my door, I face my girl, now my wife.
“Ready to go home?” I can’t keep the smile off my face when I ask.
She smiles.
“Ready.”
I can’t help myself, needing to touch her.
I reach over and take her hand in mine as I start the truck.
I glance over at her one more time before I pull out of the parking lot.
I’ve never seen anything more beautiful in my entire life, and she’s mine.
I don’t know if I'll ever get over that. Having Chloe become my wife is the single greatest thing that has ever happened to me, including winning The Cup. I know I don’t deserve her, but I’m not giving her up. She's the best thing that will ever happen to me, and I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure she knows that.
