"Got a shoulder-check from Declan."
I sit up fast."What?"
Logan’s lips twitch."During practice. Not enough to break anything.Just enough to send a message."
I groan and cover my face."Oh my God.He knows."
"He knows."
"And?"
"We’re grabbing a drink tomorrow night."
My stomach flips."Like...to fight?"
He chuckles."To talk.He said he wants to hear it from me."
I swallow hard."Do you think he’s going to lose it?"
Logan pulls me back into his side."I think he loves you.I think he trusts me.And I think it’s going to be uncomfortable as hell, but he won’t stand in our way."
Our way.
God, that sounds good.
I wrap my arms around him and rest my head on his chest."I don’t want to go back to pretending.Or apartment hunting."
"You won’t have to."
He kisses the top of my head.
I close my eyes. And for the first time in a long time, everything feels like it might be okay.
I don’t sleep much that night.
But this time, it’s not because I’m worried.
It’s because Logan pulls me into his room, into his bed, and holds me like he’s done pretending we’re temporary.
We don’t talk about love.
We don’t need to.
Not yet.
But I think I’m already there.
And for once, I don’t feel the need to run from it.
Because he’s not just my brother’s best friend.
He’s mine now.
And I’m his.
And whatever happens next—we’re walking into it together.
