Page 9 of The Arrogant One
“Wait until it’s on your pussy and you can really say that.”
I reached for my wallet, grabbed a hundred and fifty out of the billfold, and set it on the bar. An amount that was more than enough to cover her drink and both of mine. I slid it toward the bartender who was walking by and said, “For you.”
“Thank you, Mr. Wright.”
I laughed to myself at the bartender’s response since he’d overheard our conversation earlier. A laugh that quickly faded because I knew Walker was going to give me endless shit for leaving the restaurant at this stage—without taking a proper amount of photos and not even tasting the food. But I didn’t fucking care.
I stood. “Let’s go.”
“You really are serious?”
“Did you think I wasn’t?” I held out my hand to her. “I gaveyou two scenarios, Sadie. To go to my hotel room with me or go eat at your table in the dining room alone—or I guess you could stay right here. The choice is yours.”
“But I believe you also said I don’t get anything from you until at least after the appetizer. We haven’t had that yet.”
And she was feisty too.
“You’re going to get that in the car,” I promised.
She smiled.
“I’m not joking,” I added.
Her feet hit the floor. “Do me a favor?”
“Anything.”
“Make sure I don’t regret this.”
I clasped her fingers. “I’m going to make that happen in the next few minutes.”
I led her through the restaurant and out the front, bringing her toward the back side of the parking lot to my car. As I escorted her toward the passenger side, she laughed.
“You’re the type who parks in the back of the lot so your doors don’t get dinged.” Her hands went to her hips while I opened her door.
“I am when there’s no valet parking.” Which I couldn’t believe for a restaurant of this caliber. But when you dropped almost two hundred thousand on an R8, nothing pissed you off more than a fucking asshole who rubbed their car door against yours, leaving either paint or a dent. “What, you didn’t expect that from me?”
“I don’t know what to expect from you. You’ve done nothing but surprise me since I met you tonight.”
I helped her into the low, narrow seat. “Then take in this piece of information too.” I leaned into the doorway to get closer to her. “I enjoy the walk to the back of any lot. Not a single part of me is lazy.”
“From what I can see of your body”—her gaze dropped to my legs and rose—“I can tell.”
I chuckled as I shut the door and got into the driver’s seat, starting the engine and shifting into first.
But I didn’t release the clutch. I wasn’t even looking out the windshield.
My focus was on her.
“One thing you need to know about me, Sadie, is that if I tell you I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it.”
“Okay.”
“So, that appetizer … it’s going to happen right now. Lift the bottom of your dress.”
She glanced out her window. “Here?”
“Yes.”
