Page 100 of Tempting the President
When he lifted his head, I was putty in his hands, and we both knew it.
“Did you really come here to make me jealous, hmm?”
Reluctantly, I shook my head.
“Thought so.” He started stroking my hair again. “Tell me why then.”
I hesitated.
After a beat, Kellion said, “Do you know why I didn’t invite you to attend this party with me?”
I shook my head.
“I knew I’d just be jealous the whole night if I did.” His tone was faintly ironic. “Parties like this get really wild and...” Kellion’s grimace was evident in his voice when he continued, “Another man only has to look at you and I’m fit to kill, terataki.”
I raised my head at that, my eyes widening at the serious look on his face.Really?
He nodded. “I never thought I could be this possessive.” He shook his head. “I actually thought the President was overreacting when it came to MJ but now, I think...” He grimaced again. “IknowI’m worse.”
Ah, God, I really was twisted.
Because those words?
It should have made me angry, should have made me tell him he had no reason to be jealous when I hadn’t done anything, but instead, the words made me love him more.
Could it be because his jealousy reminded me of how Ashton would cry when I pretended to love another little boy more than I loved him? Maybe. I didn’t really know. All I was sure of was that his jealousy made me feel cherished, and it had been such a long time since I felt that way.
Laying my head back down against his chest, I took his hand, and my finger spelled my apology on his palm. S-O-R-R-Y.
“Ah, baby, no.” I could feel Kellion’s heart beating harder the moment he understood what I had just spelled. “It’s not your fault I’m a jealous ass.” He paused. “But tell me...are you working because of money?”
Slowly, I nodded.
“There’s nothing more I’d love to do than spend my money on you, but we both know you’d rather kick my balls than let me do that...”
I nodded more vehemently this time.
“However, you need to change jobs, baby. You’re going to drive me insane if you insist on this kind of job.” He tipped my chin up, and I saw the grim look on his face as he said, “Just the thought of you serving another man...in that kind of dress...”
Twisted, you’re so darn twisted, Aria Redfield.
Kellion Argyros looked hell bent on killing right now, and my heart was back to drunk-dancing at the sight of it.
“For the sake of my sanity, let me help you find a new job. All right, terataki?”
I nodded even though we both knew his words were more a command than a question.
A thought occurred to me, and I frowned.
“What is it?” Kellion asked immediately.
I cleared my throat. “Tonight...I...still...need...to...work.” Before he could argue, and the way a muscle started ticking in his jaw made it clear he intended to, I added, “I...promised...Bobby.”
We stared at each other after that, both of us unwilling to back down.
Finally, he said, “All right.”
I looked at him suspiciously. That seemed too easy.Really?
