Page 27 of Tempting Hunter
Epilogue
One month later…
Hunter stood in the backyard at Prescott Manor awaiting his bride. They’d decided to forego a large wedding and, instead, have a small one with just their family and close friends. When she appeared, it took everything in him to stand still. He didn’t think she could improve on perfection, but the ivory strapless gown she wore, did exactly that, emphasizing her full breasts, small waist and flaring hips. It wasn’t until he was halfway down the aisle that he realized his feet were moving.
“What the hell is he doing?” Hunter heard Maverick say.
Hunter was going to meet his baby, so she would know she’d never walk alone again. She gave him a soft smile and took his extended arm. Together, they strolled back up the aisle to where the minister awaited. Ten minutes later, he heard the words he’d been waiting for, the ones he should have heard more than a year ago.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. Hunter, you make kiss your bride.”
He seized her mouth in a searing kiss before the man finished, pouring everything he felt for her in it, wanting her to know that from now on this was how it would be between them. And he wanted their first kiss as husband and wife to be filled with love and anticipation of what was to come.
“I love you, Hunter.”
“And I love you, Mrs. Prescott.”
“I’m thinking I’d like to go for another ride tonight.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Is that right? Well, since it’s our wedding night, your wish is my command. Would you like it fast or slow?”
“I was thinking maybe we can start slow and end fast,” Michaela said seductively.
“If you’re not careful, you’ll be getting that ride sooner, rather than later.” He grew up in this house and knew every private spot.
She gave him a careless shrug. “Whenever you’re ready, just say the word.”
“I think you like tempting me.”
“Maybe, but I’m more than capable of backing it up.”
Hunter felt himself becoming aroused and decided they needed to table the conversation and mingle with their guests.
“We make the best team,” Michaela said, smiling up at him as they started toward their families.
“The best.” Hunter glanced around at all the familiar faces and finally understood his grandfather’s words. Though he still needed to maintain a level of privacy, the woman standing at his side and his family washome, no matter where he lived. My heart is home.
