An hour later, we’re finishing up our lunch.
“Are you ready for what’s next?” Hollywood smirks.
“I want to say yes, but I don’t think I am.”
“Oh, you’re ready.” Diesel chuckles “You ride with H. I’ll see y’all in a few.”
He kisses my forehead then takes off. Hollywood and I stay back for a couple of minutes while I finish drinking my tea since I can’t take a drink with me on the back of his motorcycle.
“Ready?” There’s a twinkle in his eye. He’s excited about whatever it is they planned. The two of them working together to surprise me is adorable.
“Let’s go.” I smile, ready to get on the back of his motorcycle again. I enjoy the ride so much, I don’t even pay attention to where we’re going until we’re pulling into the driveway of my house. “What are we doing here?”
“You’ll see.” He winks at me and we head inside. Diesel is sitting on the couch waiting for us when we walk in.
“Hey,” I say, walking around the couch. I pause when I notice he’s holding something in a pink blanket. “What is that?”
“Your birthday present.” Diesel’s eyes come to mine, but mine stay on the pink bundle. I take a step closer and he moves the blanket.
“A puppy?” I whisper. She’s a fawn color with a white line from the top of her head down to her nose. Which is all black except the little bit of white on top.
“An American Staffordshire Terrier, only eight weeks old,” he tells me.
I sit next to him, careful not to wake the puppy. “She’s perfect.”
He hands her to me like he’s handing me a baby. I gently rub her nose while she sleeps.
“We didn’t get any supplies for her because we wanted to let you pick it out,” Hollywood tells me. “You and D can go do that. I have something I need to go do real quick back at the clubhouse.”
I lift my eyes to him. “You’re not going to come with us?”
“You can show me everything when you get back.” He brings his lips to mine, giving me a sweet kiss. “I’ll see you in a little bit.”
“Be safe,” Diesel says to him.
“Always,” Hollywood responds.
“Wanna take her and go get her the stuff she needs,” Diesel asks me.
“I don’t want to wake her up,” I whine.
He chuckles. “She’s a heavy sleeper. I think it’ll be okay.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
Diesel locks up the house while I climb into the car.
“Have a name picked out for her, yet?” Diesel says as he gets in the car.
“Belle,” I tell him.
“Tink and Belle.” He grins. “That’s fuckin’ cute.”
