Happy doesn’t begin to cover what I feel. My daughter runs across the room and throws herself in my arms.
And standing there watching is the love of my life.
Mags smiles. “You look tired.”
“I’m better now I’m home with you.” She eyes me but doesn’t say another word about it.
Knowing my girl she knows it was a bad accident. The guy who survived it is still in the hospital and isn’t out of the woods yet. We’re not sure how it’s going to go.
But I have hope. I will always have hope. Because I have my girls and that’s all I need.
Rosie smiles and dances on my toes with her little gap-toothed grin. “Dance with me, Daddy.”
Smiling, I wrap her up in my arms and dance like it’s the only thing I want to do.
I read her a story later and then I find my girl waiting for me, her eyes full of wicked lust.
“Show me how much you love me.”
Like I could ever tell her no. Our bodies wrap around each other and it’s like we don’t need words. Our souls meet and twist together, melding in that ancient dance we both love.
Forever. We’ll never be done.
