H o n e y s l i d i n t o the back seat of the SUV like she hadn’t been heavy on my damn mind for a year straight.
And yeah, I’d touched other women since her.
Slept beside a few. Fucked a couple. But none of them moved me. None of them got under my skin and stayed there like Honey did.
I could still taste her some nights.
Still hear the way she whispered my name when she came.
Still remember how her body softened into mine like we’d done it a thousand times. Now she was sitting across from me again, looking too fucking good and smelling like every bit of heaven I wanted a piece of. She seemed different, though, and fuck if it didn’t turn me all the way on.
“You look good, sweetheart,”
I said, voice low.
She smiled like she already knew it.
“Thanks.
So do you.”
“I know.”
That made her laugh, and damn, I missed that sound.
“You’re still cocky, huh?”
“Confident, baby,”
I corrected.
“Cocky is what niggas pretend to be when they ain’t sure of themselves.
I know exactly who I am.”
“Mmm.”
She hummed, giving me a look I couldn’t place while slightly biting on her bottom lip.
“Tell me about business,”
I said, voice calm, thumb drawing lazy circles against her skin.
Honey blinked out of the haze, inhaled deeply.
“Business is really good.
Tyrae, my best friend, really goes hard.
Products are flying off the shelves. We got brand deals and a huge following. You really helped make that happen.”
I nodded.
“No, you made it happen.
I just gave you the boost.”
She smiled, genuinely.
“That means more than you know.”
There was something in her tone, something that said she hadn’t heard a man give her credit without expecting something in return.
“Still working the floor even though you have a full staff?” I asked.
“Sometimes.
I like being hands-on, but I’m trying to step into more of the CEO role now.
Let my staff carry most of the load.”
“Good,”
I said.
“You’re meant to lead, baby, not be on your feet for ten hours a day.”
“You sound like you been watching me or something.”
I chuckled but didn’t answer.
“So what about you?”
she asked, glancing at the large designer watch on my wrist.
“Still out here moving money and making power plays?”
I smirked. “Always.”
She rolled her eyes playfully.
“Still cryptic, huh?”
She looked away for a moment before turning back, watching me like she was reading between every line.
Then finally, she said, “So why now? Why reach out again?”
I shrugged slowly.
“Maybe I couldn’t shake the thought that maybe we weren’t done after all.”
That silenced her, but her legs shifted and her lips parted.
I knew I was getting that pussy wet.
The driver took a turn onto the private road that led up to the villa.
I watched her watch the palm trees whip past the windows, her reflection soft in the glass.
She looked so damn good, it made my chest tight. As much as I wanted to believe no other nigga had touched her in the last year and some change, I would be a fool too.
“You been fucking?”
I asked, voice damn near a whisper.
Her head snapped to me.
“Excuse me?”
I smirked.
“I’m sure you heard me.”
Honey shook her head, grinning a little.
“Uh, are we really asking these questions?”
“You gon' answer or deflect?”
She exhaled.
“I’ve had sex, yes.
I’m not a damn nun, .”
“Did they make you cum like I did?”
“Why do you need to know?”
I leaned in, voice low as hell.
“So I know just how much I’m gon' ruin every memory they left behind.”
Her eyes darkened as she pressed her legs together.
Checkmate.
She stared at me for a minute, and I didn’t break the gaze. This wasn’t no fantasy trip. I wanted her in all the ways I’d been pretending I didn’t.
“I guess we’ll see,”
she murmured.
“Nah,”
I said.
“You gon’ feel this shit.”
The truck rolled to a stop outside the villa.
The staff were already waiting with cool towels and drinks.
I looked out, then back at Honey. I opened the door and stepped out first. I took the cool towel, nodded at my people, then turned to help her out. When her hand slid into mine again, something hit me in the chest. Real. Familiar. Warm. She stepped out. The sun hit her skin just right. Her scent hit me harder.
And I realized then… I actually gave a fuck.
About her.
About this.
And that shit was dangerous as hell.
