“Can we talk to you for a minute?” Storm asks, eyes on me.
“Sure,” I find myself saying as I stand.
“Mar,” Keys murmurs.
“It’s okay,” I tell him. Another surprise to me was that I meant it.
Keys grabs my wrist, stopping me from stepping around him. “Behave.”
I give him a wink. “I always behave.”
Leaning down, I press a kiss to his lips and leave him to see what these two women want to talk to me about. I just hope it’s nothing that will make me go off on them. The last thing I need is to go off on the club President’s and Vice President’s women.
The three of us go into the kitchen, I’m guessing for privacy. When the door closes, sealing us away from the others, I turn toward them. “So, what’s up?”
Storm and Meadow share a look between each other before looking to me once again. Storm steps around the center island and takes a seat on one of the stools.
“Okay, so don’t freak out or anything on us, but we didn’t want you to find out later and think that we were fucked up bitches or something,” Meadow rambles, stepping toward the island and placing her hands on it, her eyes locked on me.
“What’s this about?” I cock a brow and lean against the counter behind me.
“We overheard the conversation the other day,” Storm comes out with it.
My eyes narrow, and I take both women in as I speak coldly. “And.”
“We get your reason for hiding it. It wasn’t Calyx’s to share,” Storm says.
“Dad shouldn’t have told it,” Meadow agrees. “That’s something you should have shared when and only if you were ready.”
A part of me wants to be pissed with them for knowing the truth. I hadn’t wanted Calyx to share. It felt like a betrayal, but he was doing what he thought was best for me.
“Should I thank you or . . .” I trail off, unsure as to why, but it didn’t feel right snapping at these two women. They could’ve easily hidden the fact that they knew about me and my past. Instead, they came out and told me. “You know what, I appreciate you telling me.”
“It’s not something we should’ve overheard, but it’s out there, and the only thing we can do is make sure you know we know.
We’re not going to go running our mouths about it.
That’s not us,” Storm remarks and lets a grin slip into place.
“Now, if you want to play pranks on the guys, make one of the fallen harlots pissed, that’s something we can help with. ”
“Why do I need to piss one of the fallen harlots off? And pranks, what kind are we talking here?”
Meadow groans and shakes her head. “Chelsea and Storm are notorious for pranks around here. Get them two together, and chaos is bound to follow.”
“That’s not always true,” Storm disagrees, but there was a glimmer of amusement in her eyes.
Meadow cocks a brow. “Isn’t it?”
“Nope,” Storm denies.
“Wasn’t it you and Chelsea just the other week that put blue dye in all the shampoo and conditioner bottles in the bathroom for the fallen harlots?”
Oh God.
“Did you really?” I blurt out in a laugh. That’s something I wish I’d been here for.
“Well, the new bitch wouldn’t leave Lucky alone, and with Chelsea just having the baby not long ago, we had to put them in their place once again. You know how Blow is if we actually fight them.”
I blink at Storm’s explanation for the prank. “I’d have done something more than blue dye if that’s what was happening.”
“Like what?” Storm asks, cocking a brow.
I think about it for a moment and grin. “If I couldn’t be physical about getting the message across, I’d have taken a thing of laxatives, baked some brownies, and left them for them to have.
Or better yet, because then some of the guys might have gotten those, I’d gone into their room and glued down toys to every surface of the room.
But if I wanted to make them hurt, I’d have done something even meaner. ”
“Meaner?” Meadow asks, giggling.
“Yeah, meaner, when I say that, I mean physically hurting them. I’d have been a total bitch and put sharp needles through their favorite toys. They go to use them and end up hurting themselves in the process.”
“I’m cringing at just the thought. I’m glad you never thought to do that to any of mine.”
I whip my head around at the sound of Marley’s voice. When had she gotten in here? “What are you doing in here?”
“Came to get a bottle of water and see what was happening in here.” Marley shrugs. “Heard you telling them about what you’d do about pranks, and I figured I’d listen.”
“Right,” I mutter, thinking to make my escape. I was having a good day. I didn’t want to get into it with Marley.
“Did Marshall and West tell you the news?” Marley asks.
“Yeah.” I nod. “Happy for them.”
“Me too. Shocking as it is, I’m happy they’ll have each other.”
“Same,” I agree and look over to the other two women watching us. “I’m gonna go find Keys.”
“Wait,” Marley calls, stopping me before I can even take a step.
“What?” I look back at my sister and wait for her answer.
Marley sighs and shakes her head. “We suck at this sibling thing.”
“Agreed.” I nod.
“So, instead of siblings, can we try being friends instead?”
Marley’s question throws me for a loop. Where the hell did that come from? Could we actually forget about being siblings and just be friends? Is that even possible?
I’m not sure, but the look on her face seems like she really hopes we can.
“We could try,” I manage to say, though I wasn’t sure if it would work.
Marley smiles and reaches a hand out to me. “That would be great if we could try. Because though we’ll try as friends, I’d like for your niece or nephew to be able to have you and me not at each other’s throats when they get here.”
“Ugh, what?” Did Marley tell me I was going to be an aunt?
“You heard me.” Her smile grows bigger.
“Holy shit,” Storm squeals. “You’re pregnant?”
Marley nods.
“This is great,” Meadow says. “We’ll be preggers together.”
Marley laughs and looks to me. “So, friends?”
I nod, unable to speak as something comes over me, and I do something I’ve never in my life done before. I step toward Marley and wrap my arms around her, hugging her to me. “Congrats, Marley. You’ll make a great mom to this kid, and I promise to be a better aunt than I am a sister.”
This day has been nothing but weird with all that’s been revealed to me. What could possibly happen next that could rock my world more?
