As I kept scrolling through the alphabet, one name stood out. I stared at it for a long time as a faint ember flickered in the deep recesses of my brain.

Tyson Wild.

"Is this Tyson?" I asked in a tentative voice when I called.

He didn’t respond right away. “Yes, who’s this?”

Tyson had a smooth voice. It was the kind of man's voice I could listen to for a while. There was something about it that resonated through me.

I hesitated for a moment, speechless. The voice wasn't familiar, but it wasn't unfamiliar either. “Uh, Savannah.”

He was silent for another long moment. “Vanna?”

“I guess so."

The line went quiet again.

“Is this really you?”

“Apparently.”

“I thought you were dead.”

My brow raised. “Dead?”

“You went dark. I didn’t hear anything from you. Not a word. I…” he started, then changed direction. “Where are you?”

"I know this is going to sound crazy, but how do we know each other?"

There was more silence on his end. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, how do we know each other?"

"Is this some kind of trick question?"

"No. I'm serious. I've been in… an accident."

“Are you okay?” His tone changed to deep concern.

"Well, other than this empty void in my head, I’m okay. I'm alive. I guess that counts for something."

I told him the story.

“This is going to take a second for me to process.” After a pause, he said. “I tried to find you. I figured you…”

“I’m sorry. I really don’t remember anything.”

“You’re really in Pineapple Bay?”

“That’s what they tell me.”

He was as confused as I was.

"Can you tell me who I am? Can you tell me how we know each other?"

That hung there for a moment.
